Metal Gear Solid Almost Sued For Being Like Escape From New York?
It’s a well known fact that rarely is anything original in any media. Hence the phrase, “there’s nothing new under the sun.” You can put your own spin on it, add your own flavor to it, even add a twist or two, but rarely is it original. That being said, there’s a difference between not being original, and just stealing a story. For John Carpenter, a legendary director of numerous films, he talked with The Hollywood Reporter about how he sued, and almost sued, certain people because of his famous movie Escape From New York. He recently sued Luc Besson over Lockdown for copying the story almost point for point. The interesting part? He was told to sue Konami and Hideo Kojima for doing the same thing with Metal Gear Solid!
