Per Publishers Weekly and Ubisoft, a special book compendium for the Assassin’s Creed series is set to launch next month by Ubisoft’s new book publishing division. There is also going to be a new original story for the series with Assassin’s Creed: Heresy by Christie Golden. The book releases start in November.
Nintendo recently dropped an atomic bombshell with the announced of a retro mini-console that’s in the works for a fall release. It’s called the NES Classic Edition. This retro mini-console will be priced at $59.99, and will come with 30 built-in games. It’s due out later this November. It looks like it’s coming in the form of a live-action movie based on the Pokemon franchise for Detective Pikachu. Variety reports that Legendary Entertainment is producing the first Pokemon movie in a partnership with The Pokemon Company to launch a live-action film franchise. The first film in this franchise is set to be Detective Pikachu.

Most Hollywood adaptations of video games have been bad. Even the best are only pretty average or just decent. However, that does not keep Hollywood producers from trying. Not to mention, studios have no problem spending in the lower six-to-seven figure range to develop video game properties into movies. One such property is Capcom’s very own Blue Bomber, Mega Man. According to a report by The Tracking Board, 20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment have licensed the Mega Man film rights, and are developing a film version based on the franchise.
Comcept and Keiji Inafune have announced their next video game project, Red Ash, which will follow the release of Mighty No. 9 later this year. The new game is an upcoming third-person, action RPG that pays homage to Japanese anime and Inafune’s vision of “immersing players in a freely explorable anime world.”
Sad news gaming fans, beloved game developing studio 2K Australia is closing its doors. The studio was once a part of Irrational Games, and helped make the Bioshock series what it was. Then, it became its own entity, and helped make the wildly popular Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, now though, a full closing of the studio is taking place. As 2K itself confirmed:

However, it appears the concept design that was previewed on Hyperkin’s Facebook page started as nothing more than an April Fools’ joke, but it apparently it is becoming real.
Paris, France based developer Dontod Entertainment announced at the EGX Rezzed convention this week (via Eurogamer) that Life Is Strange Episode 2 will launch on all platforms on March 24. Some recent posts on Twitter by Xbox Elite Team writer, Dae Jim, suggested that the highly anticipated new Xbox One exclusive video game, Quantum Break, could be delayed from its scheduled 2015 release. Jim’s current user description on Twitter says he is “Doing several gaming related stuff, big knowledge for #Xbox and… #cats. Writer for Xbox Elite Team.” However, his profile previously listed him as Xbox’s Dutch Community & Social Media Coordinator before this story broke out and caught like wildfire. Dualshockers reports that Jim later removed the “Dutch Community & Social Media Manager at Microsoft” label from his profile description.
