Last year around this time, Scarlet Moon Records released a special Halloween-themed album featuring a mix of video game covers, and said they planned to make it an annual tradition. They kept to their word — Scarlet Moon Halloween Volume II has now been released on all storefronts.
Developer Relative Games’ customizable shmup, CounterAttack Uprising, was originally a PC exclusive when it launched in 2019. Since then console versions of the game have sprouted up gradually, first on XBox and now, today, on Switch. New additions to the Switch version include two new levels (Anomaly and Gate), a redesigned player selector, 25 new attachments and a lot of bug fixes.

It’s well known by now that the team at XBox and its parent company Microsoft are really bad at keeping secrets, but what happened last night takes an all-new kind of cake. As a standard procedure for the Federal Trade Commission v. Microsoft case (the one that tried and failed to stop their acquisition of Activision), the company uploaded dozens of private internal documents to the FTC server. Somebody figured out how to pluck them from there; apparently it wasn’t too secure.

Even though Lilly Gao is set to reprise her role as Ada Wong, some fans didn’t appreciate her performance to the extent that it led her to temporarily remove herself from social media. Personally, I don’t believe her portrayal is as bad as some fans have accused it of being.
The space shooter Hyper Sentinel will be released in physical form on Switch soon, thanks to the efforts of VGNYsoft. Just like their previous release, the game will come in both standard and limited collectors’ editions. There’s something extra this time, however.

Curiously absent from yesterday’s Nintendo Direct was the announcement of a free demo for Star Ocean: The Second Story R. The demo was released a short time after the Direct, clearly timed to ride hype from it, yet….no mention. You had to follow the official Star Ocean Twitter account (or Wario64’s) to be notified this was a thing.
