Games With Gold for August Revealed
Major Nelson has revealed the games that will be coming to Xbox Live Gold members in August free of charge through the Games With Gold service. As is usual, players will get access to two Xbox 360 titles and two games on the Xbox One following Microsoft’s move to offering an additional game on their next generation console.
The two Xbox One releases are Metal Gear Solid: V Ground Forces, which will be available all month, and How to Survive: Storm Warning Edition from August 16 until September 15. Ground Forces is essentially an expanded demo for the upcoming Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain to give fans of the series a chance to experience the new gameplay mechanics before the full release. How to Survive: Storm Warning Edition is a remastering of the original Xbox Live Arcade horror RPG with all DLC included.
Xbox 360 users will be able to get their hands on both Metro games throughout August. Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Night are both first-person shooters that mix in survival horror elements thanks to the post-apocalyptic setting and supernatural story elements.
Both Metro games have previously been remastered for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in a collection known as Metro Redux, which introduced some changes that were made in last Night to the original game, improved the visuals and made both titles 60 frames per second. However, they both still hold up pretty well in their original forms and if you have never played them before and have no wish to splash out on the remastered editions, they are definitely worth looking at.
Meanwhile, players still have a few days to grab Plants vs. Zombies and Gears of War 3 on the Xbox 360 and until August 15 to download last month’s second Xbox One offering, So Many Me. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag on the other hand will be available on the Xbox One until the end of July.
