E3 2014: BIG BOSS IS BACK AND BADDER THAN EVER IN METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN
The Call of Duty franchise goes in a unique new direction for the latest installment: the future. For the latest installment of the first-person shooter series, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. At E3 this year, I was able to sit in on Activision’s special behind-closed-doors, first look preview of the game, which depicted two levels from the single-player campaign mode in the game. The presentation opened with an introduction video with Sledgehammer Games co-founders, Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey. Schofield and Condrey discussed their goals for making Advanced Warfare, including getting Kevin Spacey to play Jonathan Irons. Another special E3-only video was shown, featuring one of the game’s main characters introducing the world of the game. The segment highlights some of the features of the new-gen technology and new graphics for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. The character models demonstrated that the pupils of the eyes of the video game characters are able to dilate.

At E3 2014, Warner Bros. Interactive provided a special, behind-closed-doors first look presentation for Batman: Arkham Knight. The developers at Rocksteady Games presented an extended preview featuring actual gameplay footage and a look at the game’s new combat techniques as well as stealth and predator takedowns. Also, let’s not forget the ability to actually use the Batmobile. The first look demo gave an in-depth look at using the Batmobile in both Pursuit Mode and Battle Mode.

During a special E3 event, Nintendo announced the arrival of a new IP called Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. for their Nintendo 3DS handheld. Called a turn-based strategy game with shooter elements, the game is in co-development with Intelligent Systems the developers of Advance War and Fire Emblem.
Standby for new Titanfall modes – that’s the message given by developer Respawn Entertainment via their official blog while they showcase the new modes Titanfall at E3. The forthcoming update for Titanfall will provide updates for a variety of features in Titanfall, but will most notably offer players two new game modes. Titanfall launched in March of this year and according to publisher EA CEO Peter Moore is the best selling game on the Xbox One so far, even though it launched some four months after the console debuted.
Nintendo announced at its E3 press conference that both the release dates for its Wii U and 3DS versions of the newest Super Smash Bros. game would be moved. Depending on what version you planned on getting this could be either good or bad, with the 3DS version being pushed back to October 3rd 2014 and the Wii U version being released during the holidays. On top of that Nintendo released information regarding new fighters for the game including Lady Palutena from the Kid Icarus franchise and word of the introduction of Pac-Man.
At Nintendo’s digital E3 event today they confirmed what gamers worldwide have been pining for – an open world Zelda on Wii U for 2015 release! There was a short 2 minute video during the event showcasing the game and it looks gorgeous – if that is indeed how the final Zelda game will look like upon release then this could be an absolutely huge release for the Wii U, possibly even the game to turn its fortunes around.
The moment that gamers have been waiting for is now – E3 is finally here and has kicked off in spectacular fashion. There are a huge amount of announcements, trailers and updates from the first day and there’s no doubt that there will be more, so here is everything in a quick link-heavy E3 Day 1 Rundown.
During the pre-E3 conference by Ubisoft, we finally saw The Crew release date announced. The Crew is a fresh new IP from Ubisoft and is a huge open world driving game that claims to let you drive anywhere in America without a single loading screen. The release date for The Crew will be November 11.
