The God Of War series has had some ups and downs. While the main games in the series have been seen as masterpieces, their spinoff weren’t given as much love. But now, they may be making their biggest move yet with the next God Of War. As we see an older Kratos and his young son braving the Norse world and battling the gods and creatures that live in it.

The new God of War video game gained inspiration from an unusual, obscure source for the newest video game. According to game director Cory Barlog, the cancelled live-action Star Wars series that never actually materialized served as a story inspiration that informs the character of Kratos in the new video game. Speaking to Venture Beat, creative director Cory Barlog said the new direction for Kratos in the God of War sequel is inspired by scripts for the canceled Star Wars TV series.
With the Greek Pantheon taken care of, the direction of a new God of War was clearly needing to be somewhere else. However, it wasn’t always going to be the Norse Mythology that appeared next, apparently, Egypt was going to be the setting. With its gods making a debut:
The new God of War game that is coming has many new changes, aside from aspects of Norse mythology entering the game, and an older Kratos who is now a father, it’s been confirmed that the original voice of Kratos will not be reprising his role in the series.
Video game crossovers are nothing new. In fact, some titles are born from wanting to cross over numerous franchises (Mario Kart, Marvel vs. Capcom, Super Smash Bros., Etc.). Yet sometimes, a crossover happens that amazes gamers. One of those happened recently when Kratos, from God of War, was added to the amazing retro-style game Shovel Knight. The two games could not be more different in some ways, yet the inclusion worked well, and gamers were happy to have Kratos in game. But how did he get in there in the first pace? Well, David D’Angelo talked with Santa Monica Studios (creators of God of War) about the whole process.
Sony are not currently planning on remastering other God of War games in addition to God of War III. Replying to a question of the official PlayStation blog, Santa Monica Studio employee Aaron Kaufman stated that the developer currently had “no plans for others in the franchise to bring over [to PlayStation 4]”.
There’s an unhealthy perception in the gaming industry that the PlayStation Vita is struggling, and that it lacks a solid library games.
