One of the true joys of being a gamer is getting to play a title that basically subverts everything you know about how stories and gameplay are supposed to go and basically giving you a new experience. For Iratus: Lord of the Dead, you definitely get that feeling. Despite it being an early access game right now, it does show a lot of promise.
Are you looking for a fun new adventure on Steam or Nintendo Switch? Then you’re in luck, because a brand new indie puzzle game with a new twist has come out in the form of Professor Lupo And His Horrible Pets.
In a time where video games often seem to be pushing for the titles of “best-looking”, most “details in the world”, or a “deeply satisfying and emotional experience”, we often forget that sometimes the best games out there are the ones that do something simple, and do it very well. There was a time when twin-stick arcade shooters were the most-challenging video games out there, and now, one new example of the timeless franchise has come in the form of Chippy.
There has been a movement of late in regards to old-school video games. Mainly, ever since Shovel Knight came out, there’s been a desire to try and “recapture” the old days of video games. This has led to various games like The Messenger, Katana Zero, and now, Jump King. But whereas those other games had very simple yet deep gameplay, this one focuses on one very simple thing…jumping.
Horizon Chase Turbo is meant to be a callback to the purer days of racing games. Where it was all about speed and tough courses with simplistic graphics. The team at Aquiris worked hard on making this game a success, and it’s done very well for them.
The Warhammer universe is very expansive and covers many different genres both in video games and outside it. But one of the more interesting things that it did was make its way into the CCG genre, and now, a digital version of that has come to Nintendo Switch in the form of Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Champions.
BlazBlue is a very interesting title in the very long roster of fighting games that fills up the world today. On one hand, it’s a very deep and technical fighter that many of the “hardcore” gamers will appreciate. It’s also got a very deep roster of characters who play VERY differently than one another. However, it’s also got one of the most “anime” stories in the history of video games, and that goes double for its very “anime” roster. And so while BlazBlue Centralfiction Special Edition was weird in many ways, I can’t fault it for being this ambitious.
Steam is a haven for indie titles, and the games that they allow to see the mainstream world is as vast as the gamers that play them. And now, a new type of anime platformer has arrived in the form of Aurion: Legacy of the Kori-Odan. What sets this game apart from others is that its mythology is based in that of African cultures. Here is a breakdown of the game and its features:
Telltale’s The Walking Dead is about to come to an end, after many years, many delays, and the shuttering of TellTale (the series continued via Skybound Games), the story of Clementine is about to come to an end. For those who want to get a very special version of the final season, you’re in luck, because not only is there going to be a Collector’s Edition, it’s going to have some unique stuff in it, and it’s available for pre-order right now.
If you’re looking for a brand new experience on Steam, you’re in luck. For Team Jolly Roger has released their second title in the form of Worbital on the gaming platform. This is a real-time strategy and artillery game that’ll have you on your toes as you try and navigate and survive a whole solar system at war.
Steam continues to get a wide array of titles from all sorts of indie developers, and later this year, a new fast-paced lore-filled bullet shooter called “Beyond The Veil” will arrive, and it’s set to be quite the adventure.
