The latest issue of Gameinformer is set to feature a massive blowout of the highly anticipated title Mass Effect 3. Gaming Everything has released some details via GameFAQs. A few of you might know or even care that I tend to view the Mass Effect series as Bioware’s only saving grace in the last couple of years. When I play duds like Dragon Age 2, I have to hope that somewhere, somehow, they have a bright team writing great stories that flow well into game play. So far, that team has been on Mass Effect. While some might argue that the games are a bit rigid to play, they still have great story. I tend to forgive a fair amount if the game takes me out of reality a bit and gets me into the characters.

Bioware is looking to bridge the gap between Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 with the release of “The Arrival”. In his latest mission, Shepard is tasked with finding an undercover operative with crucial intel on the imminent Reaper threat. Rumors are currently circulating that the DLC is only around an hour long, which is disappointing given how long Bioware has had to work on it. What is it that makes a good game trailer? To me, it’s a combination of many elements, showing off gameplay, story, characters, and a general idea of what the game is all about in a well choreographed video; with perhaps some good music playing in the background. What truly makes a game trailer successful is that it has to make you want to play the game. The following list consists of the top 20 game trailers out there. Not all the games ended up being all that great, but these trailers were what made you want to play the game in the first place. It should be noted that all trailers are for either the Xbox 360 or the PlayStation 3.
It’s Wednesday and time for the EU PlayStation Store update. Ross McGrath writes: “A quick reminder that I can’t tell you release dates for games when a date hasn’t been announced by the publisher, so please, please don’t ask me – however I can tell you that Hoard, Under Siege, BTTF and Strong Bad: CGFAP all have preliminary internal release dates with us now – so the wait for these titles will (fingers crossed) not be a long one.” To view the full list of updated content hit the break, and don’t forget to let us know what you think in the comment section.
I bought 3 copies of Mass Effect 2 when it came out for the Xbox 360, one for me, and one for each of my boys. If I only bought one for myself, I’d have been killed in my sleep. Who says video games don’t cause violence? Over the months, the copies have dwindled down and suddenly there were no copies for my 360 anymore. Then to my great joy, Mass Effect 2 came out for the PS3 and I had a chance to run through the game on a different system.

Obsidian Entertainment comes from a solid pedigree, developing titles such as Knights of the Old Republic II and Neverwinter Nights 2. Their latest title and brand new IP Alpha Protocol looks to bring a refreshing experience to the market. Does this modern spy role-playing game trash the competition, or fall under the weight of its lofty expectations.
