Kickstarter has quickly become the place for creators of all kinds to post their projects to fans will to pledge money to see them come alive. What was once an indie filled platform is now home to numerous big name companies from various genres and mediums. The creators of Mega Man and Castlevania among other gaming titans have gone to see their projects funded in mere hours. Now, Frame6 hoping to do something similar with the Crysis franchise through a new board game.
One of the most important aspects of gaming for the vast majority of players is how good games look. Since the humble beginnings of video games that had the graphical capability of a calculator, we now have access to a multitude of games that offer visuals that are becoming increasingly realistic. According to Crytek rendering engineer Nicolas Schulz, who was peaking to DSO Gaming, this has made it much harder to impress gamers with graphics than it was in the past. Next generation consoles and high-end PCs are able to handle higher resolutions and push more computing power to rendering objects, but this means that it becomes harder for games to stand out on graphics alone as there is a levelling effect on what developers can achieve.
Crytek have recently stated they have no intentions of bringing Crysis to the Wii U, however it is interesting to see that they have experimented with the system…
Thanks to Gametrailers we get our first real glimpse of Crysis 3 in action. In this sequel we’ll once again take on the role of Crysis 2 protagonist Alcatraz as he attempts to uncover a plot by the corrupt Cell corporation. New York City is once again the primary setting, but this time it’s entirely enclosed within a massive dome and has become an overgrown jungle environment. Of course, being a Crytek game, it looks absolutely gorgeous. Color me interested.
When Crysis originally released it was all about the graphics. Even as a console gamer I’d of course heard of the monster PC you would need to run the game at optimal levels. Fast forward 4 years and us console gamers finally get to try our hand at the original outing. Is it worth the download?(more…)
