Den-O: Why the criticism?

overall enjoyment and appeal. besides, the stories for Kuuga and Agito just don't interest me, but that's just my opinion.

point taken. id have answered the same if you asked me the same question.

People are entitled to their own opinions y'know, why can't we ever just leave it at that?

true, but then how could one justify his opinion without explaing its basis? i merely asked knight why he found den-o's series more fascinating then kuuga's and agito's.. which he did.

Because it'll clash with fact if not fully understood. People are entitled to like whatever, even with flaws, but will need more than opinion to back up any big claims. Opinions is why there were so many "I hate Den-O" threads before.

So far I'm able to keep an open-mind to anything from the KR franchise. While some of feel that KR is suppose to be an absolute way. That's not how Toei thinks. They want to keep the franchise fresh, even if it means going outside the box. It's because they have to change with the times as well as sell stuff.

I agree on this one, as much as I can see that Den-O pretty much took advantaged of being entitled "Kamen Rider", let's not forget the fact that the industry it stands on just needs to make money in order to survive a few more years to give us more Kamen Rider action... Too bad it had to be on the image of the Kamen Riders' expense. :disappoin

I definitely disagree there. it's perfectly okay to think of Den-O as better than Kuuga and/or Agito

No offense, but people like you are really weird... :sly:

I said comedy... I never classified that moron Akiko with her slipper as comedy relief.

But without Akiko, I don't think there would be any ice-breaker moments in the show, call her stupid, but I guess she's the necessary stupid of the show. Without her, we could never get that Sho being drenched in a bucket of water moments and spoling Sho's seriousness and stuff. I'm beginning to accept that she is a necessity in the show, to keep Sho and Phillip down to earth.

As much as I respect your opinion, Kuuga and Agito were the only Heisei series that are pretty much based on one of the original context of the Kamen Rider franchise (Mystical approach since the other original context were super soldiers), they were faithful to storylines like Black's, Amazon, J, etc., so it is weird for me that you didn't like the more faithful ones and prefer the ones that are really far from how the franchise was truly envisioned to be. It's kinda like saying you're a faithful Christian but doesn't believe in God. That's just me though.

:sly:

please elaborate as to why?

because...not everyone will like the same thing...just like here in the forums...its made out of 80% hate Den-O, 10% love it, 10% gives a crap

while in japan there is 90% love Den-O, 5% hate it, 5% give a crap, of course I'm making the numbers out just to show you how a site that has probably less than 3000 people compare to a country that has well OVER 9000 make a difference.

everyone has different opinion, just like some people somewhere in the world hate kuuga...and my brother hates Kamen Riders in general. different opinons

I hate Akiko and I wish her death

you can call me weird cause I also enjoy Den-O very much. got a problem with it?

you know you are comparing original Kamen Riders to God and a religion to the new Kamen Riders? cause that...besides being WEIRDER than me...its plain dumb. worst than the other post where it said that if you like Den-O a lot = retarded and if you don't like it = smart...screw that then.
what I see is a nostalgic fan who really loved the series back then, just like my manager, always talking about Kamen rider this, Kamen Rider that, Kamen Rider jump/shop and kick. while I explain to him how the new riders are...he smirks and says that he does not care...he is being...NOSTALGIC. just like people compare Jack Nicholson playing the Joker to Heath playing the Joker in the batman movies...there is NO point...they are 2 completely different things...2 different Jokers...like there are over 10 different riders...and you want to compare them all? I hope you are being nostalgic, because if you got something against the Kamen Rider who is different and appealed to the majority of the viewers out there...then you are not accepting it and hating it. just like I could be hating Kuuga (I can't hate kuuga...he is too awesome) because he is not JUST like the original Kamen Rider. and saying that they used Kamen Rider's name to sell Den-O is wrong...I could be saying the same thing with Ryuki, Faiz, Blade, Hibiki, Kabuto, Kiva, Decade and Double. why? because they are not like the Showa Kamen Riders, they are not like Kuuga or Agito, you do know they tried something new after Agito, what's wrong with that? Kamen Rider...Masked Rider, guy fighting evil/terrorist wearing a mask, armor or tights and riding a bike...with character development, and learning things...while staying true to one self and all in the name of justice...Kamen Rider.

I have nothing against Nostalgic fans...or...fans who like Showa Riders more than Hesei, but comparing all riders and trying to make them the same...no...and calling people weird for liking a series...yup, that's the way of Kamen Rider

I did not compare Kamen Rider with God, if you can comprehend what I said, I was comparing the relationship between a fan and the franchise to a believer and to whom he believes, which leads to hypocrisy. Not being able to differentiate when God and Kamen Rider is being compared between the relationship in-between the lines are (pardon my expression) dumb.

The problem is, fans who didn't like Kuuga and Agito but prefer Den-O are weird since they prefer a series not faithful to the franchise itself and have a distaste on those that has been deserving of the title "Kamen Rider", its not nostalgic, its simply being able to distinguish when one series is just riding the foundation built by decades of solid plotlines and stories. Again, I have no problem with Den-O, again, it was a breath of fresh air for me, but to compare it to Kuuga and Agito by saying that Den-O is better is somewhat of an insult to the whole franchise since it was those 2 series that really had the essence of a Kamen Rider in the Heisei-era.

You might be one of those new-generation fans, but you are insulting the real fans who has watched the show since the time of Ichigo and Nigo by comparing something that pretty much dishonored the name "Kamen Rider". As much as I am tolerating the existence of Den-O and accepting that it was a fresh approach, liking it since it was fun to watch, I dislike the thought of comparing it with other series in the Kamen Rider franchise, especially those who were truly faithful to the original idea of being a "Kamen Rider".

Look at it this way, you can't compare something made and aired in early 20th century to a series years after it because the concepts evolve. Look at Kuuga and Agito without basing it on Den-O, look at it in a way that you won't be influenced my what we have now and letting yourself turn back time and be at the moment that the series was just being aired. It's not nostalgic, it's simply giving justice to one of the classic Kamen Rider series and what it had to offer which was at the time innovative and faithful at the same time. And that is what I meant by Den-O and Kuuga & Agito are not comparable, because you have to look at each series at their own time. I hope that helps.

Regarding your post with Jack VS Heath, I have been a fan of Jack Nicholson since The Shining and I do know for a fact that both Jack and Heath's version of Joker is incomparable since both are their own versions, one is faithful to the comics while the other was a twisted and dark version of the character. It is weird for you to point that out since it was you who said that you liked Den-O more than Kuuga/Agito, since it is like saying you like Heath over Jack. Get it? Trace your posts and see that you were the one who first mentioned that you liked Den-O more than Kuuga/Agito. As much as I respect your opinion, you have to admit that your posts is confusing people since you have the tendency to contradict yourself.

EDIT: Thank you scikaiju for the clarification.
