Den-O: Why the criticism?

Actually, there is really nothing that I don't like in the KR franchise, series-wise. The only thing I didn't like was to center the story too much on the merchandise (*cough* Decade *cough*). Plus I also hated how the treated Hibiki in the 2nd half... :shakefist

Again, Den-O was just a fun series for me, I believe it doesn't really fit the KR Franchise which is supposed to be dark and gloomy, but Toei did this for it to be unique. Plus it is a big sign and reminder that their real target market are kids.

Good thing Toei pleased the young audiences which was their real intended market, but makes fans like us realize that Toei is another company who just wants to make money, and what better way than to lure children to a show that doesn't require too much brain activity. Yeah Den-O had great concepts (Time-travel, Japanese mytologies, etc.), but the plot wasn't executed properly IMHO.

The only Heisei Rider shows I have serious problems with are Ryuki and Kiva. These are shows where I feel the writing goes a bit beyond "troubled" and into the realm of cynical heartlessness. While Blade wasn't too creative, the show does have a lot of heart and that's worth something to me.

The rest of it... like, Hibki and Den-O I really think would've been better shows had they not been produced under the auspices of the Rider franchise. Otherwise the worst I could say about Faiz and its successors is that most of them would've benefited tremendously from getting Bandai out of the writer's chairt. It was more of a problem in some shows than others.

Faiz frustrates me because it could've been a really great show if only Bandai hadn't crammed it too full of pointless characters and gimmicks for the plot and central characters to really breathe. Bandai was screwing up shows left and right in that same way that year, too.

I like all Kamen Riders the same...but I seem to like Den-O more for everything. so I'm retarded, and proud of being retarded...can't tell me otherwise...I finished the series twice...and Kuuga I'm at ep 45, and agito 35.
