Watch The First Teaser For Daughter Of Dismay
Independent films and shorts rarely get as ambitious as Daughter of Dismay*, an Austrian art film by director James Quinn. Shorts like this are notorious for their low-budget looks, but this one has been filmed entirely in 70MM IMAX photography. There will be regular 35MM and 70MM prints of Daughter of Dismay, but only the truly chosen theaters will get the IMAX version. Why the extravagance? As Quinn tells it, “Daughter of Dismay was always supposed to be a big project, presented in the most epic format it could be presented in. At first we were aiming for regular 70mm, but upgraded to 70mm IMAX only weeks before the shoot.” Quinn adds, “There’s a certain magic about seeing something on actual film on the big screen, especially in 70mm. I was always extremely interested in this epic aspect of movies, where you don’t just go to watch something, but actually experience the entire movie to a point that’s almost physical, as part of a spectacle that evokes greater feelings than
Meet Bragi Axebiter of Warhammer: Chaosbane
Warhammer: Chaosbane is on the way! It’s coming this April to Playstation 4, XBox One and PC. It’s time to meet the first of its four playable characters: the drawf Bragi Axebiter. Bragi Axebiter, the dwarf Slayer has taken the oath of the Slayer, vowing to cleanse his honour by dying in combat against a formidable adversary. This exceptional warrior is always searching for the most powerful enemies so that he can “finally” honour his oath. An expert in hand-to-hand combat, Bragi benefits from a high degree of mobility which allows him to launch into the heart of a melee in order to eliminate a particular target. Bragi can move quickly across the battlefield by throwing his axe at targets — his ability catapults him straight toward whatever the axe is stuck in. Just hold down the space bar or tilt the right joystick, and he’ll go flying. This ability to jet across the field lets skilled players get in blows before the enemy even realizes what’s happening. Final Fantasy XV Episode Ardyn — Prologue Now Viewable On YouTube
On March 26, the solitary surviving chapter of Final Fantasy XV’s abandoned second DLC wave will be released: Final Fantasy XV Episode Ardyn Prologue. Before that, though, you can watch a prologue anime movie starring the central character of the DLC, the villainous Ardyn Lucis Caelum. Ardyn wasn’t a villain yet, though, at the time of the DLC. The prequel storyline will explain how he gets to that point. Episode Ardyn: Prologue is an anime short that sets the tone for the DLC, and it will be sold in Blu-ray form as part of The Dawn of the Future Celebration Box. The box also includes The Dawn Of The Future novel, compacting the entire rest of the story planned for the cancelled DLC chapters. But you don’t have to spend dozens of bucks on that elaborate package to see the short. First released on VOD platforms, Episode Ardyn: Prologue is now freely available for anyone to watch on YouTube. We’ve put it right down there for your convenience. Enjoy! Final
Things From The Flood Is Creeping Your Way This Spring
Things from The Flood is an expansion pack for the award-winning Tales from The Loop, the RPG from Free League Publishing that takes Simon Stålenhag’s stirring retro monster art and creates a tabletop narrative around it. The game was enough of a success that Amazon bought the rights to develop a potential TV series. Unsurprisingly, more is on the way. Things From The Flood adapts another one of Stålenhag’s art books and brings back the characters from the first. Now they’re teenagers in the 1990s…what will happen to them this time? It’s up to you, but according to Free League, this expansion is darker than the original, and it’s fully possible for someone to die. The Things from the Flood RPG thrusts the Tales universe into a grim alternate 1990s. Step into the shoes ofa teenager growing up in a decade of change – and disaster. Still, your life goes on as before. You go to school, fall miserably in love and try to fend of boredom. But when teens start
Western Horror Flick Spirit Reckoning Announced
Westerns and horror films are usually two separate genres, but writer-director Jimmy Lee Combs wants to try something different. Through production company Heart and Fire Productions, he’s announced a new tale of terror set in the Old West: “Spirit Reckoning.” Spirit Reckoning takes place in circa 1875, and tells the story of Sam Conley, a farmer with a wicked gambling addiction trying to make ends meet for his family. Upon returning home, Sam is killed by some petty outlaws alongside his wife and child. To return the favor on a good deed Sam did for the Indian people, a Shaman brings Sam’s spirit back from the dead as an avenging skull cowboy. However, this comes with its set of side effects as Sam’s emotions intensify making him feel rage more extreme and sadness more deep than the normal person, which brings humility to Sam much like Frankenstein’s Monster. “Spirit Reckoning” is a wild ride, that combines the elements of horror with the setting of a Western, seeing the protagonist go
Cut Final Fantasy 15 Content To Be Resurrected in Book Form
Last November, Square Enix abruptly cancelled their plans for a second wave of Final Fantasy 15 DLCs. Four new add-on chapters were originally announced for the game, each focusing on a specific character: Episode Ardyn, Episode Aranea, Episode Lunafreya and Episode Noctis. (Episode Noctis would have really, truly been the final chapter — we think.) Of those, only Episode Ardyn will be released, and that’s happening next month. But what did Square have in mind for wrapping up the storyline which was SO IMPORTANT that it required a second wave of DLC content (but NOT so important that it couldn’t be taken back)? Ordinarily in these situations, we never find out. But this time we will. Introducing The Dawn of the Future, a Final Fantasy 15 novel that will come out one month after Episode Ardyn (in Japan). It may be offered separately, but it will also be part of The Dawn of the Future Celebration Box, which also includes an artbook and the anime short Final Fantasy XV: Episode
Early Prerelease Pokemon Designs Uncovered
The Twitter account for Team Spaceworld has been on my feed for a while, but I rarely ever see posts from them. They are the team that’s been working on a translation of the leaked 1997 Pokemon Gold & Silver trade show demo, and I’d like to know when it’s done. So when they sent out a tweet late last night calling attention to a charity stream on Twitch called “Pokethon,” and punctuated that tweet with “Be there to witness Pokemon history,” I had to abandon all other plans. Unfortunately, I had no idea what I was watching. The game being played clearly wasn’t the Spaceworld demo. It looked more like a rearranged version of the original game. Some of the Pokemon had different illustrations, while others were completely different — a venture into a cave didn’t produce an encounter with Zubat, but a tiny-bodied creature with giant wings called “Bittybat.” It was possible the game was an early demo for Red and Green, but if that was true, why
Jessica Jones And The Punisher Cancelled By Netflix
So who saw this one coming? Actually, who DIDN’T see this one coming? Netflix has dumped The Punisher and Jessica Jones, its remaining two shows from the deal it made with Disney/Marvel years ago. They join Daredevil, Iron Fist and Luke Cage on the scrap heap, along with the crossover “The Defenders.” “We are grateful to Marvel for five years of our fruitful partnership and thank the passionate fans who have followed these series from the beginning,” Netflix said to Deadline. Netflix has never said it outright, but it’s quite obvious the cancellation of these shows has a lot to do with the uncoupling of Disney from their service. The entertainment behemoth is launching its own streaming channel later this year, and pulling the majority of its content from Netflix in the process (not so much from Hulu, as Disney actually owns a significant stake in that company). So might we see any of the Netflix Marvel shows become Disney+ shows? We hate to break it to you, but…not anytime

I started my 2019 interview season on Thursday, January 10th when I spoke to actress Melanie Kinnaman. Melanie is the 2nd actress from Friday The 13th: Part V that I’ve had the pleasure of interviewing, the first being Deborah Voorhees last year. In addition to Friday The 13th: Part V, Melanie Kinnaman has worked on movies like Thunder Alley and TV shows like Saturday Night Live. She’s also an accomplished dancer and a former model, and we discussed all that and more in this conversation. Say hello to Melanie Kinnaman! Johnny: Hi, Melanie. How are you? Melanie: Good. How are you? Johnny: I’m good. I have my questions ready to go, starting with this: Before you were an actress, you were a dancer. What kind of dancing did you do? Melanie: I did everything. I started at an early age, and I started with ballet and tap. I then did jazz and modern dance, and started performing professionally at the age of 13. Johnny: Alright. Did you dance on any

80’s Icon, Diane Franklin on Waking Nightmare, Better Off Dead, Bill and Ted – Interview
Diane Franklin is an actor with many notable films and television projects to her name over several decades of entertaining on screen. She’s appeared alongside Keanu Reeves, John Cusack and many more since she got her start in the late 70’s. Popgeeks had a chance to sit down with this effervescent actress, Diane Franklin, to discuss her latest role in Waking Nightmare and look back on her career. Adam Pope: I’m very excited to talk about your latest performance in Waking Nightmare, because this is this truly disturbing experience. It feels like the writer/director, Brian Farmer has purposely tried to make it hard for the audience to get our bearings, keeping everything off-kilter. So what kind of script were you handed initially when asked to be a part of this film, Waking Nightmare, and what made you decide to take the role? Diane Franklin on Waking Nightmare: That is such a good question. So first of all, I get the script and I love it. I really loved it. This,
