A lot better than the opening episode, that's for sure. This show might actually slowly grow on me. Sure, the whole imagination thing is stupid, but in an endearing way. And for some reason, I've got Kingdom Hearts running through my mind.
Ah. Another one of those villain plans to prepare something for their master/emperor/God or whatever. How great. What an exciting change of pace.
And on that note of villainy, I just can't find the adequate words for that bloated and overgrown Miss Gritta who I presume to be like a Spanish infanta. And infantas tended to be groomed to be married off to European heads of power yes, but Gritta comes across in both appearance and voice to be a child. A child who is so infatuated with Kaiser Wilh- General Schwartz so much that her only lines thus far are to do with him. Really, guys?
I do like the idea of going from town to town to liberate them. It kind of reminds me of those early Gokaiger rumours when there was talk of islands that the Gokaigers would supposedly visit each episode and it. But, being cheapskates, especially for a TV show that has been declining and plateauing in terms of ratings, Toei isn't going to start abandoning the use of the same few filming locations they've stuck to in recent years. It's still going to look like the same overall town.
In fact, this being Kobayashi, and with the tendency to avoid any semblance of tighter written plots in Sentai, I'm bracing myself for the long middle where barely anything of much substance happens and it's indistinguishable town after another. Unless that Gritta decides to undergo a Tran/Tranza and Rije/Rijewel and shakes the field of play.
Wasn't expecting to enjoy the mech fight if only because TOQ-oh straight up decides to cut with the bullshit after the Sabre Shadow cheated and just shoot the bugger to death instantly without any need to pad out the fight a bit longer.
