I''m quite blown away by this episode. I feel the depth of the theme and idea of ToQGer runs a lot deeper than the past 3-4 series combined.
I really really really like that idea of them being "good as dead" and coming from a town where the Shadow Line has taken over.
I'd also throw a theory that in reality they ARE JUST still children, and magically they have turned into adults upon the Rainbow Line. Chosen because of their dynamics and strong imagination (eg look at Kagura), they were saved or something and became fighters.
I'm willing to bet the 6th ranger would either be their 6th friend under the tree, or a legit adult who MIGHT for irony's sake be turned into a kid in the team or just stay as an adult, "guiding" them along.. very much like MagiGold to the other Magirangers.
The ally team has been interesting so far.. there's a very Pinkie Pie kinda idyllic setting in the Rainbow Line, which is really interesting me thinks.
The villains seem to be interesting too. I wanna see what Grita can do, since she's got a crush on that German/Austrian general but her mom wants to betroth her to the King.
All in all I think this will be an awesome series if they keep up with this theme and the AMAZING dialogue - Hikari's statement on being afraid of heights so he wouldn't mind being the anchor, and then cracking a joke to show us that he's the serious guy but still really kiddy inside.. that was the best part.
My favorite is still Blue. so adorable and dorky character is my favorite.
So far I see the team as this... in their child form back in their hometown
Right - Leader, stubborn, headstrong, Mary Sue
Tokkati (we don't even get to know Blue's name more than once!) - Oldest, nerd, book smart yet not street smart
Yellow - motherly, "big sister".. like Luka from Gokaiger but less swag and more gentleness. Also the mediator.
Hikari - the "logic".
Kagura - probably the youngest (or 2nd youngest to Hikari from my observations). self-esteem issues/insecurities. probably reliant on Right (please don't throw a random shipping writers)
I still hate Kagura a lot.. her nose reminds me of a creature. and she kinda looks like a Gargoyle. also that hair needs to go... don't young girls have cooler hairstyles even as a kid these days?
The mecha is still gross, although the emergency "breakdown" of the robot was cool. But the colors are soooo so disgusting, it's like 5 crayons ewwwwwwwwwww
