Kamen Rider Wizard, Ep 5 - "The Deciding Match of the Contest"

Another good ep. Is it just me, or was Medusa and the other guy (forgot his name) unusually annoying on how they kept popping in on the Cat Phantom?

I think it was easy to feel sorry for Cat Sidhe. He wasn't exactly a good monster, but you get a sense in episode 5 that he just wanted to be left alone. Without Medusa and Phoenix forcing him into it, he probably never would've hurt much of anybody, or at least run away after Wizard trounced him the first time.

I dunno that Wizard really has a problem if the series average falls somewhere between 6.5% and 7%. That's not a high general audience number, but some shows in that range have had really strong kids numbers. Heck, even Fourze held onto its Kids audience pretty well.

I mean, I guess if you were hoping to see Wizard in the 7-8% range, yeah, the numbers are a disappointment. Maybe Toei wanted more from the show, it's hard to say. But there's a difference between "I wish this was better" and "this is bad."

I meant that the numbers right now are fine in that range, but the show needs to keep them there, not lose more audience, otherwise it'll just drop back to Fourze's level. However, very few Rider shows have been able to keep a stable audience for long, that's why I said that keeping the numbers there is a "problem".

A thought came to me while I was watching this episode: since Phantoms take the likeness and probably memories of the human that they took their life from, is it possible Koyomi's Phantom has taken her likeness and her memories after they were separated? If so, then where's her Phantom, anyway?

I could see her phantom not having a human form, due to Koyomi herself existing... Although I guess it depends on the type of story they want for that phantom. They can play it as stealing her life, and in that case it needs a human form, or it could just attempt to absorb Koyomi to become "complete", possibly leading to something similar to the Ankh/Lost Ankh resolution.

Well, if it wasn't for Medusa and Phoenix he'd probably never even fought Wizard at all.

You know, I actually thought Cat Sidhe could POSSIBLY be a allie if Medusa and Phoenix didn't force him to bad things.

Nah, Cait Sith is too lazy to be an ally.

Also, we have yet to see a Phantom that it's actually good, so it's safer to assume that Cait Sith is also evil (he did got some enjoyment out of hunting the pianist) but his laziness generally overrides his it.

I suppose you're right. To be honest, I just wanted to see Cat Sidhe's human actor again. Bernard Ackah is very entertaining to watch.

I'm just happy Cait Sidhe is getting some love up in here. Does anyone have any gifs of him? I wanna rock him as my avatar.

So what will happen to the Gate? won't they worry if the Gate would be attacked again? :/ I'm confused. :disappoin
Well Cat Sidhe never found the source of his hope and attacked it, unlike the previous two stories. Koyomi found what the pianist (did he even get a name?) was "holding on to" and managed to stop him relying on that one thing, giving him more hope. Plus he's moving away, and while there was plenty of speculation that this might be a show with Wizards worldwide (likely just people applying Hibiki tropes in the hope they'd be repeated) there's been nothing in the show so far to indicate (or, in fairness, to disprove) that there are Phantoms overseas.

Maybe in a similar way to the Mole beastman from Amazon  Cat Sidhe was different enough from the standard MotW to be memorable, but I couldn't see him as a regular character.

Is it just me or is anyone else jealous of Rinko's cushy job where she can just not bother turning up some days?

Im really enjoying the fight scenes in Wizard more than I have in recent Kamen Rider series. We mostly get the brawler type Riders where the fight scenes are sometimes meh. But Wizard has a sweet style to his technique. I swear Seiji Takaiwa must have gotten some extra training or something because he is badass as Wizard. I hope they keep it up.

Funny how tokusatsu is the genre, that actually benefits from lesser budget at times)))

It depends. If you substitute CGI in place of storytellng ala George Lucas then that is just flushing money down the toilet. But if the CGI furthers the story then I think it would worth it to spread the wealth alittle more.
