Dr. Syn #1 (of 4) ships January 6 and brings the Scarecrow of Romney Marsh back as an Oni Press miniseries. Michael E. Uslan, the executive producer on the Batman films from Tim Burton’s through Christopher Nolan’s and beyond, writes it with Steven S. DeKnight, who ran Daredevil for Netflix and Spartacus: Blood and Sand for Starz. Sebastián Cabrol draws. The Reverend Doctor Christopher Syn once waged a guerrilla insurgency across 18th-century England from behind a mask. Now he has been captured, tried, and condemned, and his sentence is death by exile in the American penal colony known as “Georgia,” alongside “a hardscrabble crew of his king’s most notorious ‘undesirables.'” The year is 1775, and Oni’s own pitch is “Inglourious Basterds meets V for Vendetta.”
Syn is one of several January leads who are stuck somewhere they cannot leave. Fort Psycho’s commandos are still on their island prison and Archie is still in 1690. A sixth grader in The Haven is living the same school year on repeat, and the Biker Mice from Mars have to find a way home from Mega-City One.
No Way Out
Fort Psycho #6 (of 12) on January 20 keeps Matt Kindt and Brian Hurtt’s spies “confined to the island prison nicknamed ‘Fort Psycho'” after their latest escape attempt. Jason is still working secret orders from his old commanders. He means to take out the ally-turned-traitor he believes is the Blue Bishop, the terrorist responsible for thousands of deaths and for Jason’s own imprisonment, but his instincts are telling him “the clues just aren’t adding up.” If he miscalculates his next shot by a millimeter, “he might just be the one who winds up dead.” Patrick Horvath and Tyler Crook’s Archie in Hell #3 (January 13) leaves Archie in the Riverdale colony of 1690. He has to convince people who look and sound like his friends that he knows them, that he is from another time, and that they need to help him stop the evil planning to sacrifice everyone in town. An unexpected guest also pays a visit to the Andrews homestead.
The Haven (January 27) is a 184-page graphic novel from Jayel Seymour and debut artist Lauren Mugford. J is a closeted, queer 12-year-old who is reliving sixth grade over and over. Something terrible happens at the end of every year, the year resets, and he cannot remember what the Terrible Thing is. Two new kids, Rory and P, turn out to be trapped in the loop too. The three of them find a portal into the Haven, “a shifting landscape of floating islands and fantastical magic,” and the only way out of the loop is to face a fear they have been running from all their lives.
The crossover ends in Judge Dredd/Biker Mice from Mars #2 (of 2) on January 27, a 40-page issue from Dan Watters, Ryan O’Sullivan, and Jordi Tarragona. The cross-dimensional energy around Throttle, Vinnie, and Modo has drawn Judge Death back to Mega-City One, and he “wants to claim every soul in the city.” Dredd and the mice have to forge an uneasy alliance while Limburger and Karbunkle loot the city’s tech. And even if they survive Dredd’s fury, there is still the question of how they “make it home in one piece.”
Valentine’s Day in Riverdale and the Abyss
Two of the month’s books are timed to Valentine’s Day. Tortured Hearts 2 #1 (January 27) is EC‘s 56-page anthology of “heart-ripping, artery-spurting tales of romance gone awry.” Michael W. Conrad, Melissa Flores, Sarah Gailey, and Malachi Ward write it, with art from Jenna Cha, Ryan Kelly, Sami Kivelä, and others. The advice for the lovelorn is to “cut things off,” and the book demands “justice for the jilted.” Four Seasons of Archie: Love Stories (January 6) is the first in a new series of seasonal Archie collections, 144 pages of romance stories spanning 85 years. Midge and Moose, Chuck and Nancy, and Reggie and Cheryl get their turns alongside Archie, Betty, and Veronica.
Two more Archie Comics books have their own complications. Archie #5 (January 27) is billed as a jumping-on point, and Ben H. Winters and Nick Cagnetti build it on a death in Betty’s extended family. Her “dad’s mother’s great aunt’s second cousin (once removed),” Aunt Elizabeth, has died at 104 and left her namesake an unexpected inheritance. Veronica “knows all the tricks” for treating new money like Old Money, while Archie wonders how to keep “two fabulously wealthy girlfriends entertained.” Fábio Moon draws a new chapter of “Jughead’s Journal” in the same issue, and it puts Jughead across from “a startlingly familiar face from the future.”
In Corinna Bechko and Kano’s Sabrina the Teenage Witch #4 (January 20), Greendale High’s Winter Formal is coming up. Sabrina cannot work out how her friend Lou Ella plans, decorates, coordinates, and still looks good doing it, so she turns to magical ads and mystical doppelgängers to find the perfect outfit. That is how Greendale ends up with two identical teenage witches at one dance. Nick Cagnetti contributes four ads from the magical realm.
The Page Is the Battlefield
Bulletproof Coffin: Giant! Cease to Exist #1 (January 13) brings David Hine and Shaky Kane back to their series in a 72-page issue. Inside the fictional Golden Nugget Comics imprint, the Sons of Technarchy are at war with heroes like Scarlet Spook, Red Wraith, and Coffin Fly. The Sons are “a cabal of hyperintelligent, all-powerful trillionaires who treat entire realities as disposable playthings.” As the battle rages, Hine and Kane themselves are “drawn into the chaos, forced to confront their own demons as creators on the brink.” Pascal Jousselin’s Mister Invincible Redux (January 27) does something similar for middle-grade readers, with 48 new pages in a 144-page hardcover. Mister Invincible’s power is not strength or speed but the comic page itself, so he “steps between panels, reaches across gutters, and bends time and space by treating the layout as his battlefield.”
EC’s artist spotlight this month is Artists from the Abyss: Sami Kivelä #1 on January 6, the third of these one-shots after the Charlie Adlard and David Lapham issues. It pairs a new story by Kivelä and Greg Pak with reprints of his work from Epitaphs from the Abyss, Catacomb of Torment, and more, in 32 ad-free pages. Chris Condon and Ben H. Winters scripted the reprinted stories. Kivelä also draws in Tortured Hearts 2 and in Cruel Kingdom 2 #5 (of 6) on January 20. He draws The Forever Home #5 (of 6) for Christian Ward on January 6 as well, the issue that finally puts Henry D’Amour face-to-face with his son Tommy.

SOME REBELLIONS NEVER DIE!
Traitor. Rogue. Revenant. Rebel. He’s been known by many names … and now modern masters Michael E. Uslan (the blockbuster executive producer behind the multibillion-dollar-grossing Batman feature film franchise – from Tim Burton’s Batman to Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Night and beyond) and Steven S. DeKnight (showrunner of Netflix’s Daredevil and Starz’s Spartacus: Blood and Sand) join riveting artist Sebastián Cabrol (EC’s Catacomb of Torment) to chronicle the fiery origin of the once-forgotten revolutionary who first watered liberty’s tree with the blood of tyrants!
Once, the Reverend Doctor Christopher Syn waged a guerrilla insurgency across 18th-century England – justice for the cruel deaths of his family at the hands of King George III and the rest of England’s persecuted and oppressed. Hidden behind a terrifying mask to keep his true identity concealed, Syn’s rebellion soon became legend, inspiring copycat uprisings across the English countryside as the “Scarecrow of Romney Marsh” became a beacon of resistance against his nation’s mad monarch.
But that’s where history’s chronicle of the Scarecrow’s reign is about to go violently, terribly wrong… Now Dr. Syn has been captured, tried, and condemned for his crimes. Forced into death by exile in the British Empire’s most inhospitable outpost – the American penal colony known as “Georgia” – Syn has found himself imprisoned alongside a hardscrabble crew of his king’s most notorious “undesirables.”
With a mismatched team of allies fueled by the same burning vengeance for justice at his side, can England’s most dangerous revolutionary finally bring the empire down in an inferno of roaring flames … and could this backwater collection of pestilence-ridden colonies called America provide the spark? The year is 1775. And Dr. Syn’s war is about to begin. Inglourious Basterds meets V for Vendetta in a shocking twist of alternative history, as Uslan, DeKnight, and Cabrol resurrect an unrelenting freedom fighter for a new age!

- WRITTEN BY DAVID HINE
- ART BY SHAKY KANE
- COVER A BY SHAKY KANE
- LIMITED EDITION VARIANT (500) BY RAÚL ALLÉN
- LIMITED EDITION VARIANT (250) BY ALEX DIOTTO
DEAR READER, PREPARE TO… CEASE TO EXIST! The long-awaited return of comics’ most insidiously enthralling and potently psycho-active indie comics masterwork – THE BULLETPROOF COFFIN – begins in an all-new, 72-page dose of surreal superheroes and addictive ideas reuniting creators David Hine (Spider-Man Noir, Spawn) and Shaky Kane (The Man from Maybe, The Beef)!
Inside the pages of the hyper-fictional Golden Nugget Comics imprint, a war is being waged with weapons of technological control by the Sons of Technarchy, a cabal of hyperintelligent, all-powerful trillionaires who treat entire realities as disposable playthings. Standing in their way is an unlikely last line of defense: The brave but bizarre heroes known as Eye-We-I, Scarlet Spook, Ramona – Queen of the Stone Age, Red Wraith, Coffin Fly, the Shield of Justice, and more! But as the battle for existence rages, a mind-bending meta-twist unfolds – Hine and Kane themselves are drawn into the chaos, forced to confront their own demons as creators on the brink. Cosmic, chaotic, and wildly imaginative, THE BULLETPROOF COFFIN’s first giant-sized genre-smashing spectacle blurs the line between fiction and reality.

ESTUARY: A GHOST STORY SC | Oni Press January 2027 Solicitations
- WRITTEN BY TIM DANIEL & DAVID “DB” ANDRY
- ART & COVER BY MAAN HOUSE
OUT OF THE BLOODSTAINED PAST OF OLD CALIFORNIA… A DIFFERENT KIND OF DEVIL IS RISING WITH THE TIDE! From rising stars Tim Daniel and David “DB” Andry (Cush Depth, Morning Star) and modern horror virtuoso Maan House (Mine is a Long Lonesome Grave) comes a chilling tale of secrets buried deep beneath the surf of the idyllic California coast…
Atop a rocky cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean sits the Mission at Arbués Point, a 400-year-old Spanish mission made infamous as one of California’s oldest and most haunted historical sites. But beneath its crumbling, tourist-trap facade, a reclusive nun has spent decades within the Mission’s walls, honing her prayers and practice in pursuit of a secret long-buried beneath the majesty of the chapel, and under the dark waves of the tidal estuary below.
When marine archaeologist Maris Cristobal accepts the nun’s offer to begin excavating fabled wreckage lying in wait beneath the Mission’s turbulent waters, she brings in a local boat guide (and handsome social media influencer) to navigate the choppy waters and mystery. As Maris and Hunt grow closer to finding the truth – and closer to each other – they soon discover that the sins of past and present are about to wash together into a harrowing surge of a vengeance that can no longer be contained… Collects Estuary: A Ghost Story #1-4.

MISTER INVINCIBLE REDUX HC
- WRITTEN/ART/COVER BY PASCAL JOUSSELIN | Oni Press January 2027 Solicitations
The highly acclaimed, award-winning Mister Invincible returns with 48 all-new pages of format-bending adventure and creativity for middle-grade readers from French cartoonist Pascal Jousselin!
Mister Invincible is a playful, inventive comic series by Pascal Jousselin starring a superhero whose power isn’t strength or speed but the ability to manipulate the comic page itself. He steps between panels, reaches across gutters, and bends time and space by treating the layout as his battlefield. The stories mix slapstick humor with clever format tricks, creating adventures that are as much puzzles as they are superhero tales, appealing to both kids and adults who enjoy seeing the medium turned inside out.
