Kamen Rider Wizard, Ep 5 - "The Deciding Match of the Contest"

Hm... a slightly improvement from last week. It seems like Wizard is settling on that level...

Unlike Wizard, Fourze's early series ratings jumped around a lot, getting bellow 6% in episode 3 only to get a 7.7% in episode 5... before settling on barely above 6% after episode 10 and dropping more after 31. The main problem here is Wizard holding onto those numbers, I guess.

Man, poor BustaRhymes Phantom just couldn't catch a break. Overall enjoyable episode despite the usual rubber facing and forced pratfalls from Dropo. I enjoyed the way the episode balanced helping the Phantom of the week with giving us some character background on Koyomi. I liked that they kept in the cool BGM along with the use of Blessed Wind. I was afraid we'd lose the BGM stuff once the insert songs started.

I really have to wonder how the heck the shell of Koyomi's former self was split from the Phantom that emerged and where that Phantom is now. Will this Phantom show up in a human form that is basically evil Koyomi?

As long as Koyomi doesn't tread the path of Ankh, I'll be happy. Unless her Phantom turns out to be some...boyfriend or something. Then no. I would be displeased. Hopefully her Phantom will show up later on in the series.

I could see them use Koyomi's Phantom as grounds for the proper mid season upgrade or something similar.

I dunno that Wizard really has a problem if the series average falls somewhere between 6.5% and 7%. That's not a high general audience number, but some shows in that range have had really strong kids numbers. Heck, even Fourze held onto its Kids audience pretty well.

I mean, I guess if you were hoping to see Wizard in the 7-8% range, yeah, the numbers are a disappointment. Maybe Toei wanted more from the show, it's hard to say. But there's a difference between "I wish this was better" and "this is bad."

Well, when you consider Wizard have gone 1 - 1.5% up from Fourze already. So something is making it more likeable.

People seems to forget that its Haruto's crotch that is garnering the good ratings so far ... Housewives are tuning in to find out what kind of magic will he conjure up with that crotch :O

A thought came to me while I was watching this episode: since Phantoms take the likeness and probably memories of the human that they took their life from, is it possible Koyomi's Phantom has taken her likeness and her memories after they were separated? If so, then where's her Phantom, anyway?

Oh, and Koyomi is fast becoming one of my favorite characters on the show, along with Haruto and Rinko. Even Shunpei isn't as annoying as he was in the last episode.

Another good ep. Is it just me, or was Medusa and the other guy (forgot his name) unusually annoying on how they kept popping in on the Cat Phantom?

Also, Ryotarou's sister next ep! Will be fun to see Airi again, and hopefully not as a ditzy type-ish person.
