Kamen Rider Wizard, Ep 5 - "The Deciding Match of the Contest"

I can't imagine us seeing Copy for too frequently, as the supposed reason for the limited appearances of GataKiriBa was because the CGI to create such scene was incredibly costly. Which is probably why they were all stationary instead of Rider Kicking with Wizard.

Good episode today.

. I'm liking all the hue changes and color schemes that the flashbacks have. It's cool and definitely adds to the atmosphere of the show.

. The fight was also top notch once again.

. When I was watching Gokaiger, I didn't really get the impression that the show was flashy, except maybe in some of the bigger battles like Marvelous vs Basco or the battle against Damaras and Barizorg. This show is definitely reaching me with its style, and I hope it results in good ratings.

. I didn't expect Koyomi's reveal to be that straightforward. Oh well, at least we know she is a shell of a phantom that she released.

Hmm... Gates are humans with magic potential, who can give birth to Phantoms. A Phantom being born kills its host. Mages are people who can harness the power of the Phantom inside them to use magic. The ritual was to give birth to a bunch of Phantoms, Haruto and Koyomi were the only survivors. Koyomi relies on Haruto's magical energy to survive...

Could Koyomi somehow be the leftover shell from a Phantom's birth? That somehow, her unique abilities/situation/whatever allowed for her to survive, but since her source of magic/life-force was removed, she needs replenishment from Haruto to survive?

I love it when my guesses turn out to be right.

We will see Copy pretty soon again. Before the show started we saw Copy + Kick Strike doing a Burning Divide in the trailer. Trailer clips usually are from the first few episodes, in fact for Fourze all of them were in the first 4 episodes, I'm surprised the Copy Kick Strike still hasn't appeared in Ep 5 yet.

Also there's the scene in the bridge where Wizard is fighting the Ghouls that is yet to appear.

I assume there's nothing much to do beyond that. He isn't in the desperation, which means phantom inside him is dormant. They managed to give him hope and stuff, so they probably just hope everything okay and be ready to come again if anything goes wrong.

Plus, he's going overseas to study, which pretty much means he ceases to exist.

I'll assume that each person only has one thing that they truly hold dear to their heart. And only when that one thing is destroyed/taken away will it create despair deep enough to cause a new Phantom to be born. Thus, once Haruto becomes the supporting 'last hope' for the Gate and guides them in the right direction, the Gate won't be susceptible to a Phantom's provocation.

...or something along those lines.

Guys, Guys trailers are nice and such... but... NO GIANT CRAPPY CG FIGHT THIS TIME!!!

They are not actually going to shoehorn it in the end of every two-parter.

It's called money. Toei isn't gonna shell out endless supplies of cash just to supply Bandai with their "CGI advertisement" fights on a consistent basis.

Be greatful that this episode arc ended up being the one where Toei is tightening their wallet (and possible the next few episode arcs as well).

Funny how tokusatsu is the genre, that actually benefits from lesser budget at times)))
