Den-O: Why the criticism?

It may have gone against the grain of Kamen Rider shows, but it's something that has been on the rise in tokusatsu with Ryukendo and Sazer X (which did the whole time travel concept much better) coming before it did.

well, needless to say, it has major staying power unlike any other rider series, and it's immense popularity in Japan is the sole reason it's been kept going. it hit a high note with the audiences because of it's blend of action, comedy, charm, and ikemen (pretty boys), and that was enough for it's continuation. more proof is that the Den-O toy line ended alongside the series, so bandai essentially stopped making money off the series, save for things like S.H. Figuarts and and the Rider Hero Series soft vinyl figures

like I said, I din't find Den-O's imagin fighting funny, I found the clever insults and the ryotaro's helpless to possetion and the crazy moments they get him into...lol

and for W, same way, clever comedy...is not HAHAHAHHAHAHHAHA!!!! funny...its funny as in new and smart comedy

Akiko does not help. she gets capture and W has to safe her...she might get less annoying...but heck...I still do hate her lines and comments...and its sad how the writers are trying to help her by making her help in some cases...but is nothing like "wow she did it" more like "the writers just want people to like her" and its not working....I hate her...in every episode...except for 14...it was a little less hate....just little...it went back up on 15, I loved when Shotaro hit her with her sandal...that brat...can't wait when they tell her that the Boss is dead...I will laugh at her tears muaahahahahaha

you forget that Ryotaro was one of few people who could force out Imagin from his body, except for Ryutaros whose possession is stronger than a normal Imagin's

Wait, what, why are you saying we're due to get Skull around ep 20? Right now it's looking like we might get Accel in the 19-20 arc, but...

isnt skull a movie only rider??

knowing kamen rider...he probably is alive and became a bad guy, I might not be the only one who has assume/guessed it will happen. plus if I remember, the episode with the radio chick, they say something about skull figure showing up in places. and you see a silhouette of skull. now if I'm assuming/guessing right...when he got shot...he din't die...they probably pick him up and experimented oh him and gave him the skull memory. I just gotta remember all the kamen rider twist have been so far that I guessed right. plus...it would be sweet if I'm right...not because I can say I told you so...but because is skull...and because it would be a great twist.

but if its a movie only rider...it sucks...such a nice, awesome rider just for a movie...sad.

exactly my point.. too much slapstick going on with den-o. w is funny if u comprehend the storyline and understand it. funny in a witty way isnt when people u watch on tv just insult each other and pummel each other. thats the 3 stooges. and that is slapstick.

as for akiko, i hated her before, but as the story went on her role started to fit in, she became involved with the story, not just "be there to be the annoying sidekick".

Gotta agree dude. Dang man, Akiko's humor wasn't funny just forced herself though. Makes same with Taros group. Need more hilarious-ism.

Uhh yeah he is movie only. That whole mysterious skull figure was a tie in two the movie along with a bunch of other stuff over various episodes. Not sure if your the kind that likes spoilers, but if you want to know what really happens then just check Igadevils blog for the Double/Decade movie synopsis.

Why do people here are equating 'popularity' and apparently "original' shows like Den-O 'brilliant' and 'good' because of these (allegedly) good qualities?

Popularity is far from equating something to be good, artistic, and clever.

Look at the sucktitude of crappy popular anime, TV shows, and Movies to prove my point.

Occasionally there might be (once in a blue moon) a show that might have *both* but it is rare and surely not Den-Oranger (which was an utter travesty).

Can we please try to make the effort to see KUUGA, AGITO, RYUKI, FAIZ, BLADE and maybe Hibiki and then compare it to....

Kabuto, Den-Oranger, Kiva (good, but not good enough), and Decade?

One half of the Heisei Rider era is GOLD and innovative, the other half is the fecal matter in a latrine somewhere in Lagos, Nigeria!

I would be pretty pissed if this happened, it would directly contradict the plot of Begins Night.

Yes, those episodes aired just before the movie that contains Begins Night opened.

now if I'm assuming/guessing right...when he got shot...he din't die...

This would directly contradict the plot of Begins Night.

I cannot bring myself to argue with these statements in good conscience. Though I personally felt Ryuki was a bit fuzzy at points.

I've got to be honest: I thought Ryuki, Faiz, and Blade all ranged from "kinda bad" to "outright terrible." Faiz is especially offensive because it was clearly just a plot assembled by Bandai.
