FF16 Why did Final Fantasy became an action game with RPG Elements instead of a Fantasy based RPG with Turnbase combat?

Final Fantasy XVI (2023): Clive Rosfield is drawn into a brutal war fueled by magical Dominants and their summoned Eikons. It leans fully into cinematic, action-focused combat with a darker medieval tone. AKA Final Fantasy 16, FF16, FFXVI
Most final fantasy games these days felt like Dark Souls, Bayonetta and Devil May cry. The remakes are the only ones with resemblance of the classics. Also I hate the new games focus on single protagonist from 15 to 16 onwards.

Ugh, same! I miss turn-based battles so much. FF7 Remake looked amazing, but the combat just wasn't the same. Dodging and whacking enemies feels brainless compared to strategizing your party's moves and exploiting enemy weaknesses. Plus, those turn-based battles were epic! Remember that final showdown with Sephiroth in FF7? Pure strategy and tension! Now everything feels like a flashy button-mashing mess. I get that Square Enix wants to appeal to a new generation, but there's a reason so many of us loved the classics. Give us a new turn-based Final Fantasy with a deep story and we'll be there in a heartbeat!

Don't get me wrong, I love a good turn-based battle as much as the next fan, but for me, Final Fantasy has always been about the story. Those epic journeys, the unforgettable characters, the emotional moments – that's what keeps me coming back for more. Sure, FF15's open world felt a bit empty, but the bromance between Noctis and his crew had me hooked. And who could forget Aerith's tragic fate in FF7? As long as Square Enix keeps delivering those heart-wrenching stories and lovable characters, I'm happy with whatever combat system they throw in. Maybe a return to turn-based battles would be nice, but honestly, if the story is awesome enough, I'll play it no matter what.

Whoa, slow down there, grandpa! Turn-based combat? Isn't that like, super old-school? Like, waiting on dial-up internet old-school? All that turn-taking seems kinda slow, no offense. FF7 Remake was awesome because you could actually fight in real-time! Dodging attacks, unleashing epic moves – way cooler than just picking "attack" from a menu. Don't get me wrong, those classic games might have been cool back in the day, but come on, it's 2024! Games gotta be fast-paced and action-packed, you know? Maybe us youngsters just have shorter attention spans, haha. But seriously, the new combat system is way more fun. Peace out, turn-based brigade!

I agree that the party system was a defining feature of the earlier Final Fantasy games. However, I think it's important to remember that the series has always been evolving. Sometimes, taking risks and trying something new can be a good thing. While XV may not have been perfect, it did offer a different kind of experience that some fans might enjoy.

I think it's a shame that you feel so disappointed with XV. While it may not have been your favorite, it's still a well-made game with a lot to offer. Perhaps you should give it another chance and see if your opinion changes.
