Scary Movie Recommendations for this week

It is the Mel Brooks version. It's hilarious.

Amazon has The Burning on VHS, that's the best I can find too. I stole my copy from a Hollywood Video, and then paid for it, so it wasn't really stealing I guess.

Get 8mm. It's not horror per se but it's downright freakish at times.

Thanks Matt!

I have to agree with Bolt on 28 days later. Crap-tacular movie. Honestly, it wasnt groundbreaking at all, in fact it was pretty much based on Resident Evil in terms of plot. Not that Resident Evil is 100% original, no. But still, I really didnt think 28 days later was all that great. Pretty generic Zombie thriller with really nothing scarey or thrilling about it.

Hellraiser is one of my favorite series. I love Hellraiser, but mostly the original movies. Since they looked the best and were more frightening. Scarey movies were definitely way more frightening back in the day.

I would suggest the Puppet Master movies myself. I always loved the Puppet Master movies. Mainly just the original movies. Originals are always the best. Great music and wicked fun slasher.

Also I love the movie Killer Klownz from Outer Space. Damn awesome thriller. Probably not scarey anymore but I still love it.

When I was a kid I loved scarey movies. Anything that had a monster in it I wanted to watch it even though it always scared the hell out of me

That's why it's fun!

Puppet Master is great, I can't believe I forgot to mention it! You should check that out too, Knight. Also, you'd be good to find Slashers. It's a very interesting movie... not really scary at all, but a smashing good concept. It's about the future of reality/game shows, when they really start to get out-of-hand crazy, set in Japan (where they already are out-of-hand crazy), and centers around these contestants in a gameshow called Slashers where they're put into an underground funhouse maze with 3 serial killers. They either have to kill or be killed. It's a great idea and is shot on a camera similar to those used in actual reality shows, so it feels more genuine. The theme song is hilarious too. It's completely happy and innocent sounding, sung by some teenage Japanese girl and cut with samples of a wacky DJ going "super fine!" It's extremely entertaining; you might actually save the sex for later when watching it.

Besides, it's Supaa Fine!

Several recommendations, though you might not like all of them:

1. Event Horizon-There are very few films that can combine sci-fi and horror effectively. This is one of them. Nuff said.
2. Apt Pupil-more of a drama, but its still filled with tension and suspense.
3. Breakdown-same as #2, its more of a suspense film. But seriously, its a great film
4. ZOMBIE- be careful here. I'm talking about Fulci's ZOMBIE. In Italy, Dawn of the Dead was re-titled ZOMBIE. This film was released in Italy as Zombie 2.
5. THE THING- no doubt, one of John Carpenter's best. great story, great acting, and gore effects that havent been topped in 24 years.
6. THE FLY- Don't be fooled by History of Violence. THIS is David Cronenberg's creepiest movie. Jeff Goldblum stars as the title character.
7. Lord of Illusions- You'll never look at Scott Bakula the same way after this flick. That's right, Sam from Quantum Leap journeys to the dark side in this under-rated masterpiece from Clive Barker.

I'll think of more. Gotta reach deep down into my memory of great horror that FK hasnt seen yet. THAT is a challenge!!!

Let's scare jessica to death
emily rose
haunting
my bloody valentine
hell night
happy birthday to me
toolbox murders
high tension
cry wolf.

I'm gonna check out emily rose soon. I always wanted to see it.

Anyway, Hellbound tonight. Anything I should keep my eyes open for in this flick?.

Emily Rose is an ok movie. Better than I expected it to be. Not really scary. More of a "oook" kinda movie. For me anyway. Hellboy... heh. Saw it in theaters. It was ok as well. Not really that great. Sure it was fun and action packed but not the best movie in the world. Save the kittens!
