The Flight of Dragons. An obscure Rankin Bass animated movie, about Peter Dickenson, a scientist/inventor, who is also a fantasy buff. He is brought to another world by the green wizard Carolinus, to save it from the evil red wizard, Ommadon. The movie is no where near as cliche as it sounds. It's also pretty violent.

It also has a pretty nice cast.

John Ritter as Peter Dickenson
Harry Morgan as Carolinus
James Earl Jones as Ommadon

Well at least Forbidden Kingdom had a good story plus it is based on the hit Chinese novel "Journey Through the West" which became the basis for the anime "Gensomaden Sayuki", anyways that is another story though.

I'm pretty sure it's more of the fact that he's not a fan of movies where white kids fall into ancient asian only to find out that they're the "chosen one" and saves an entire kingdom with his five minutes of martial arts training

I couldn't get past the fact the "Boston" accents sounded like the New York stereotypes from that Family Guy episode.

That'll definitely be one of the first that I check out.
