Scary Movie Recommendations for this week

Anyway, Hellbound tonight. Anything I should keep my eyes open for in this flick?.

In Dr. Channard's study, there are several Puzzle Boxes under small glass domes. At least one of these boxes is now in the posession of one of my fellow HELLRAISER fanatics!!!!

Also, Andrew Robinson was supposed to resume his role as Kirsty's father Larry. However, he declined at the last minute, so the script had to be re-written.

Late in the movie, the 'Chatterer' Cenobite gets his eyes miraculously restored. This is not a mistake. The scene explaining this was cut from the final film. Later, in one of the 'chain room' scenes, the actor who played Chatterer got a large metal hook driven up into the roof of his mouth. Unfortunately, this was not captured on film.

Also, I just want to point out that Channard is one of my fav characters, especially once he is 'transformed'. Enjoy buddy, this is a great flick!!!

BAH I only got to see 10 minutes of the movie and then other "activities" began. I'm gonna have to rewatch it on my own.

How so? I agree that all of the sequels after part 4 have been pure and utter shite. But the first 2 are great, 3 has a great massacre scene but crappy Cenobites, and 4 was A ok with me cause of the back story about the Lament Configuration.

I'm going to chime in since I'm half-of-a-Hellraiser fan (half of thanks to the sequels sucking so bad, you're shamed as a fan of the series).

The first Hellraiser was great, a classic. Barker actually improved over his novella. It's almost like a horror play, a vast tale told in small sets. Hellbound is probably the only good sequel. Scratch probably, IS the only good sequel. And I think it could have been better, it drags in some spots. But, Channard was great (it was all Kenneth Cranham) and Kirsty wearing Julia's skin -- come on! Nice and twisted there...

I didn't care too much for the "humanizing" of the Cenobites. What I liked about Pinhead is how he's actually intelligent --not a silent dumbass like Jason or Mikey Myers and not a comedian like Freddy. But he's intelligent and you can converse with him. But I think they went a step too far when they made him...ugh..."good."

Three is a ridiculous piece of ****. Pinhead had some good lines, but it was really more like a Sega CD adaptation of Hellraiser. Too Hollywoody -- bad special effects and bad actors to match! (I call it "Hellraiser 3: Pinhead Does Hollywood"). Bloodline was just silly. I liked the idea behind Inferno, but it was POORLY done. Amateurish. Hellseeker was an even worse version of Inferno. Deader -- I actually, for some bizarre reason, enjoyed that one! It was better than Hellseeker, had more style than the previous few. A mess still, since it wasn't even a Hellraiser flick to begin with. Hellworld's the worst, though. Awful, awful, awful piece of poo.

As Barker said, each film reflects the people who made it. It also is a mirror on the horror film industry at the time that it was made. That is the reason that 3 fell short. By that time, Halloween movies had become redundant, Freddy was nothing more than a comedian, and Jason had just taken Manhattan. UGH.

I dunno, I actually ENJOYED that one for some reason. Agreed about Inferno and Hellseeker tho.

As for Deader, I havent actually seen it OR Hellworld. No rental places in my area carry it, and im not about to pay 22.50 to buy it. But still, I think one place might have it, so I'll check there.

I'll buy toys of things I'm interested in, but there's not that many things. Because I pretty much buy them and pack them away, because I don't display them and their otherwise in the way. As far as horror items go, I was really into those Movie Maniacs that McFarlane released a few years ago (until they got lame with stuff like Terminator) and was glad that a Pinhead toy was finally made by some other company to go along with the other horror giants. I'd actually like the figures for the other Cenobites (that is, the only ones that matter -- the originals -- the woman, Chatterer and Butterball), but it's nowhere near the top of my list of things to buy.

Damn, what happened to the Movie Maniacs? There's so much other stuff they could have done! I want a figure of Pennywise from Stephen King's IT!

well, at your local SPENCER's, there MIGHT just be a Cenobite Lair set from the first film, with all four ORIGINAL Cenobites!!! It comes with 18 individual REAL chains, and a torture pillar!!! Seriously, keep an eye on NECA, theyre re-making most of the Movie Maniacs characters, but more detailed and film accurate!!! ALSO, they managed to make two characters that McFarlane neglected: The Tall Man from Phantasm and Frank the Bunny from Donnie Darko!!!

Don't even waste time on deader or hellworld. Both of them are fucking aweful. You are better off renting the Barney on Stage musical instead.

Cool, thanks for letting me know! I had no idea anything like that had been made. Hopefully they'll come down a bit in price as most of the other toys did. Nice addition to detail on the set, with the pieces of Frank's face! :laugh:
