Ressha Sentai ToQger vs. Kamen Rider Gaim: Spring Break Combined Special!

This is how I wanted to see Narutaki, someone who's very complicated instead of being the one-dimensional villian he was in Decade. I'm surprised that it took 5 years to give him some character growth.

This is how I wanted to see Narutaki, utterly absurd and with every other character being very, very confused by him.

As far as the special itself goes - I was among those who wasn't pleased about it, because I really want to see what happens next on Gaim, but this was pretty good, I thought. It was fun, and it provided several moments that drummed in how Kouta's grown as a character.

Oh bloody hell.

I came into this blind and I was not prepared for Narutaki to suddenly turn up only to hand out a free train pass and leave. The hell did he say? He's a friend to the riders now? What the actual fvdegdvehded ah, who cares. Screw Narutaki and everyone who wrote his "character" and lines in every conceivable way.

Narutaki was always a friend to the Riders. It was Decade he was trying to save them from.

How does this not connect with the movie? All I've seen about the movie are the previews, so I wouldn't know.

So... what was the problem? Kouta and the other Gaim characters shouldn't have learned about Badan here and are surprised about Badan all over again in the movie?

Yup, at the beginning of the movie Mai talks about the world inside our world and then they go check it out and they have absolutely no idea who and what Badan is.

When Badan starts attacking the city in the movie, Kaito appears and says "So a new enemy, huh?" before transforming.

During the scenes at the credits of the movie, Mitsuzane tells Takatora how this Badan incident didn't have any connection with Helheim like they were just finding out about it.

The ToQger don't meet Gaim in the movie but Right does give Hongo an advice from Ichigou to Ichigou, so I guess is canon with ToQger....lol

They could be all tired as well...

This was a great special. Takaora missing all the action was funny. I really hope this becomes a tradition, it was WAY better than either Super Hero Taisen and way more satisfying a crossover.

That DJ Gun in sword more is freaking cool, I like how it's pre-attack phrase continues on from the musou saber's count ^^

I've not been keeping up with the movie news, so maybe everyone but me knew this already, but was that KR Fifteen wearing Decade armour in the movie preview at the end?!?!

Love Narutaki. Decade was my first show, so I have so much love for it's characters. Narutaki can keep trolling the Riders for the rest of this decade and beyond!

Personally I thought it was a bit awkward at times just from trying to gell such different tones together. Ocassionally the Gaim crew seemed just silly enough for it to be jarring, and the ToQger crew were restrained enough that it seemed a little weird. But overall, yeah, it's probably one of the better inter-franchise crossovers we've had.
And there's a new Kikaider? For real?
Yes. There are trailers out already. It's called Kikaider Reboot. Completely new cast and updated suits. The actor who played Jiro in the original series is having a cameo appearance in it, though he isn't playing Jiro.
Will there be a Super Hero Taisen 3? Not countil that Showa vs. Heisei though.
Heisei Rider vs Showa Rider is being released around the same time of year that the Super Hero Taizen films were released the previous two years, so it seems to have taken it's "slot". It's being marketed as "featuring Super Sentai", presumably as an indicator that it's meant to be the successor to the two SHT films, but Sentai are being phased back out in favour of returning to just having Kamen Rider Wars again.

I am kind of disappointed with how this special ended. I was expecting Gaim and the ToQgers to combine their finishing attacks into a one-time special attack, but instead they got separate focuses and it just came off anti-climactic. Then there's the fact that Kamen Rider Fifteen and the first 3 Showa Riders cameo'd, which made this entire team up feel like trailer fodder for the upcoming movie.

But I did like seeing Narutaki again, with a puppet no less! I knew the shenanigans in Decade became the best reason for any All Rider team up in the future, the new "A Wizard did it" punchline for the Kamen Rider universe even though we now have Kamen Rider Wizard, but I didn't think Decade's logic would keep connecting them with Super Sentai as well. :anime:

I think the best thing was seeing Mitchy's brother just missing ToQOh when he turned around. It's a joke that's been recycled many times, but it works so well for Super Sentai. It almost answers some questions the fans have had for a long time, yet opens up even more questions. :D

Also explains why no one wants to evacuate Zawame City afterwards (or any other cities in Sentai series). Because the fight happens when everyone turns their back, and when they turn their back again...BAM! everything is in ruins.

This episode was well done. I loved it!
Everything flowed smoothly - everyone was in character, the pacing was just nice and some memorable moments. The appearance of the first 3 Showa Riders and Fifteen was the icing on the cake. And Kachidoki showing more features of the DJ Gun was a nice touch.

One thing that I don't understand though is whether this episode is canon for both shows? Does this mean Sentai is connected with KR again? And what does Narutaki meant by "more worlds are connecting"?
