[Comic] Marvel Talk Up Thread

Been reading Scarlet Spider. Love the book and it has one of the best supporting cast I've seen in a while

The rodeo issue is one of the funniest I've ever seen.

Also, love when Kain refers to Peter and Riley as his brothers.

So new week:

All-New X-Men #15 - Well they are surely messing up the time line! Also loved the bookends with Jean and Rachel.

Avengers #17 - Is a good thing that this epilogue is over, the stakes are high and the last few pages were awesome.

Superior Spider-Man #15 - Is it the end of the charade? Well looks like some people will start looking into it....also Hobgoblin is in serious problems!

I had to groan at the notion Peter's soul mate and most valued love interest would ever dismay Ock's recent actions with a "nah...couldnt be", reaction, especially given her history of easily knowing when her best friend is being impersonated. Of course, everyone from MJ to the Avengers has to look dumb in order for that ol' Mary Sue, Carlie Cooper, Slott's favourite plaything, to play the master detective. Blech.

Idiot ball plotting and zero respect for character history are one of many reasons why Superior Spider-Man is inferior hackery at it's finest. How anyone thinks it's great I don't know, it clearly shows how little they value Spidey themselves nowadays. Utter ****. Someone put Yost on this book and fast, Slott is not the guy to tackle this concept or this supporting cast.

Like I've been saying, the online daily strip, even with it's bonkers plotS, has been consistently more entertaining and more importantly, faithful to the characters than Marvel have managed in these last seven years.

The funny thing is, there's nothing Chris Yost wants more than to write Peter Parker, and he was under the impression that he'd be writing Peter when he was put on Avenging Spider-Man. Poor guy.

Superior Spider-Man #15: Not a bad issue overall, though I'm starting to feel the novelty of the book is wearing off and I doubt I'm alone in that. Seeing Ock aggravated at how, despite objectively being less effective than a "Superior" Spider-Man, Peter was still able to be an efficient crime-fighter and to a degree maintain his social life was great especially after all of Ock's gloating about being better. It's nice to see karma finally bite back at Hobgoblin, though I was always hoping it'd be Peter who took him down. All in all, it feels like the book is slowly but surely setting up Ock for his eventual fall and Peter's return, probably around when Amazing Spider-Man 2 premiers, though the jury's out on whether Slott can keep me hooked in the meantime. It may all just hinge on Spider-Man 2099.

As for MJ, I feel Slott's generally just biased towards her as both a character and a love interest for Peter.

The Superior Foes of Spider-Man #2: Hilarious as ever, nuff' said. Though I still can't wrap my head around where this book takes place chronologically between Slott and Yost's book.

Avengers #17: Enjoyable issue and some good setup for Infinity, though I have to admit I'm not fond of the new additions to the lineup. It just reeks to me of Hickman favoring his own original characters when they're plenty of other heroes in the universe who could join the team. Though I do admit Sam's pointing out how big the team already is was hilarious.

Iron Man #14: I can't say I've really been digging this arc, but at least its ending soon. Seeing 451 finally get flustered and agitated was good too, and it looks like he'll finally be getting his just desserts. Deaths Head still rocks as well.

All New X-Men #15: Can't say I saw this pairing coming, though I doubt it's going to end well for anyone. I think past Jean's is just so obsessed with not turning out like the original Jean did that she's in immense denial that she's in love with Scott. But if she'd even pick him over Wolverine, I doubt Beast is ever going to truly win her heart. Also, good to see David Lafuente doing more art for Marvel.

X-Factor #260: For what amounts to a bar-room brawl between Superheroes, this was a pretty good issue. Pietro seems to have finally mellowed out and is trying to be a better person after all his mistakes. Lorna on the other hand... well, I kinda wish she hadn't gotten a "get out of jail free card" after what she did. Getting drunk and then abusing your powers to a degree where innocent people could have been hurt is not very respectable. I was actually happy to see her get arrested considering how childish she was acting. I would also have preferred she actually get punished for her actions and have to bail herself out of jail, but it seems like Marvel wants to setup what's next for X-Factor and she'll be a major part of that.

I agree! Although Slott did come up with a very clever, dumb, bold, but clever comic concept to spice up Spider-Man, it really ruined the Spider-Man we new, especially issue 9, that just threw me off the edge.

I'm sorry, he needs to go, Yost would do a wonderful job. Bring Peter back, make him the Superior Spider-Man, call it a day.

I don't think we are asking a lot here MARVEL!

Avengers Arena #13-Good issue, I wish it wasn't so much filler even though it tied up loose ends. I feel as though Arcade is honestly going to get it when the heroes find out.

Young Avengers #1-5-I've picked up the first arc and man this is easily in my top three Marvel Now Titles. I regret not picking this up sooner. I'm going to finish the rest of these issues so I'm completely up to date.

Superior Spider-Man Team-Up #2- That was a fantastic issue. Can Marvel just take Christoper Yost and put him on Superior Spider-Man? I feel like he understands the character more than Slott.

Scarlet Spider #20- A fantastic ending to the two parter. I really enjoyed the art and how this arc will effect Kaine in the long run. Here's to another great arc of Scarlet Spider.
