[Comic] Marvel Talk Up Thread

No Flash is "The" Spider-Fan. Which is why I still have a problem with him taking the Venom name. I get the reason of having the book titled Venom, but if in story they had him go by something else I think it would make a lot more sense.

It bugs me whenever ANYONE who wasn't Eddie and the Suit combined calls themselves Venom. To me, Venom is Eddie+Suit. Not the suit by itself and certainly not just anyone that puts on the suit.

Also I call shenanigans on the symbiote not knowing Spider-Man's identity. I think they don't want people to forget OMD.

Technically, despite Flash trying to be a good hero, he hasn't had the best of luck reigning the Venom symbiote in, also most dub him Agent Venom since he started out as the governmental super powered wet works agent.

As a fan of the series, I say keep an open mind and start from the beginning because it has been a great to solid series throughout its current volume. It isn't the Venom most us grew up with most of the time but the concept of Flash being Agent Venom is a great one and worth being given a opportunity by any fan of either Spider-Man or straight up dark super hero stories.

From what I hear the series is great, my issue is just Flash using the Venom the name period. I know that he isn't going to be name anything else for obvious marketing and branding concerns.

Also to be frank I don't care much for Rick Remender as a writer, everything I have seen of his just comes off as a bit too dark for my tastes. Plus he has a habit of burning through unused characters just to up the body count. Still miffed about him killing a lot of the AoA X-Men. I even liked that 10th anniversary mini-series. Though knowing Marvel we will probably get a good chunk of them back in 2 years for the 20th anniversary.

Your criticism of Remender is on point, he does have the habit of doing that or just throwing characters he doesn't like to the wolves. I'm hoping when Marvel eventually lets him headline one of their annual crossover events, he doesn't take that particular mindset with him.

Finally read Hunger #1 and... Holy cr@p...

They actually made Galactus, arguably the most powerful being in the Marvel universe, even more powerful.

So new week, new comics..

GoTG #5 - Such a good issue despite having Angela (but again Gaiman is co-writing so..). I loved how Tony was pretty much being all awkward around Gamora and Rocket was mocking him because of that.....and that ending, I figured whom Quill was talking to, but still!!!

Uncanny X-Men #9 - A very interesting issue, some funny/good points (like one of the Cuckoos having a makeover), and is that character dead?!!! I hope not and that was just Mystique giving her some sleeping stuff...

X-Men #3 - Is shame that this Coipiel last issue.....nevertheless that was quite an easy fight for this new "team", I hope this is followed up in the future (as well as the bomb that Pixie sent into orbit). Hopefully this book gets some voice in the next issues...I know I'm sticking with is during "Battle of the Atom"

Only picked up X-Men this week and thought it was great. I actually wanted the arc to go on for a bit more but I take what I can get. Also picked up the second to last issue of Journey Into Mystery and man it's a shame it is getting cancelled. This book has finally found it's footing.
