FF7 Remake finally happening?

Sorry, this has been debunked as silly Twitter people taking his comment the wrong way, he was just out with dinner for them and asked followers if they had any questions. It's actually embarrassing for that website to even keep that news up.

Good, if it's one game that doesn't need to be remade it's FF7. Not say FF7 was horrible or something, but there's way better classic RPGs that deserves to be remade far more then FF7.

I know it's just speculation at this point, but I really hope something comes of this. I have never played FF7 because I never owned an original PS and I'm not sure if I could get past the dated graphics now. I can do 16-bit no problem, but there's just something about those old, polygonal graphics that is difficult for me to handle.

Here's hoping for a remake. xD

This may be being a bit cynical or a little bit of a jerk, but I'd be interested to see a remake myself. Not so much so I can play it (as I tried and it didn't hold me for even the end of the first disc), but more I'd like to see the fanbase's reaction to it.

It's an older game, and we've had many years' worth of games since, so while many fans say it's still a classic and still really good, some part of me always wonders if they're saying that because they've sat down now, years after the fact, and played through again and found that the quality of everything aside from the graphics still holds up. Or are some people simply saying it whilst wearing the dreaded nostalgia goggles?

If they do remake it, and it's still good, having held up to the test of time, I'd be willing to give it another shot. But mostly I'm just curious to see what kind of reaction a released remake would bring from the fans and the gaming community in general. Be it good or bad.

You do know that the PS3 plays PSX games , do you?

For some strange reason , you can play those but not PS2 games.

And in the long run it'll save you $60 over a probably 10 dollar used game. Graphics should not really matter if you really are immersed into the game , but then , better graphics with updated designs like the recent ones would do it justice. Hope it gets put on the Wii or Wii2 alongside the other two systems because it really desperately needs some form of console gaming like the other two and have casual also. Hope it gets put on the PC/Mac, more on the latter though since I'm getting a Macbook, and having the remake debut on the MAC would be sweet.

That's not a totally misleading article. The real story is that Kojima was like "Yooooo! You should remake FF7!!" and that's it. He's not heading up a project to do it. They've been talking about the chances of remaking the game since that tech demo was shown off. It's nothing to wet yourself over anytime soon I think.

I would rather have them make FF7 as a Movie instead of the game... They've already made FF7:AC, so why not....

Also, it wasn't Kojima who asked for a remake. He was having a dinner meeting with Square-Enix and it just so happened that he passed along messages from the Fans.

And just HOW are they supposed to condense the story of a game that can take well over five dozen hours of gameplay to beat into a 2 hour movie?

I kinda doubt it's gonna happen anytime soon, if it all, what with all the stuff they already got up their plate for now…

Gameplay is different from story telling. Do you need to delve into the Chocobo races?

It might be a long shot, but it's still better than not having any.

Where I come from, we close any and all VII Remake threads.

Mainly because we've had over 5 trillion and they never lead anywhere.

I don't personally feel like any FFs need to be remade or have ever needed to be remade.
