PARTY HARD
After one long month...it's time for another...
To avoid spoilers, this review will be in HIDE tags.
[hide]For returning to the series, this episode seemed pretty quick. I can never get used to it. The stage this time is the Sand Zone, a desert-like zone that’s probably based on Egypt. New concepts spring up, new Digimon appear, and surprising alliances are formed!...Honestly, this episode wasn’t interesting until the end, so there’s not much to review. I hope the next episode is more interesting…
First, let’s touch the Digimon Analyzer.
One of the major Digimon appearing in this episode for the first time (IN HIS FIRST FULL DEBUT!!) is Blastmon, a member of the Bagura Army! The following Digimon appear in this episode: SkullScorpiomon, Evilmon, Revolmon, BigMamemon, Pharaohmon, and Kiriha’s Blue Flare Army Cyberdramon! Also, Monitamon reveal their arsenal and purpose in the Twilight Army, and Sparrowmon reveals her strength against Blastmon.
Let’s start with the last General of the Ba….Bu…Bugra Army? Seriously, did Ryuu-Rogue make a mistake? I really hope not…anyway, the crystal-bodied Blastmon makes his first true appearance this episode. He’s very self-centered when it comes to the shine of his body and is somewhat childish of some sort. I think he’s the stupidest, personality wise, out of the three Generals. But if he’s that big, it’s best not to underestimate his strength. He flies by shooting rocket-like energy from his fists. But…he’s bound to be the funniest of the three Bagura Generals. I surprisingly like him. Also, Blastmon is voiced by Norio Wakamoto….ohhh Wakamoto-sama…
Next is the Blue Flare Army’s minor, but significant appearance in this episode. Kiriha reveals a new Digimon in his team, you all know as “Cyberdramonâ€. Cyberdramon first appeared in Digimon Tamers as Ryo’s Digimon. According to the Wonder Swan Digimon games, Cyberdramon was born from Ryo’s original Digimon, V-mon, and the enemy he’s always been fighting, Milleniumon. Cyberdramon in the Blue Flare Army seems to have gotten a new color and a more twisted feel (biologically) to his appearance.
Now, it’s time for Nene-sama’s Twilight Army. Despite their small appearance, the Monitamon once again reveal their name-sake ability, “monitor.†When Monitamon appeared in the Monitamon Enemy Search segment at the end of one of the older episodes, it said that when there’s one, there is often a lot more hiding somewhere. Monitamon are based off of ninjas, obtaining and relaying information. Monitamon’s known attack so far “Fire Shot,†shooting weak fire balls from its screen. It’s safe to say that Monitamon aren’t very offensive.
Sparrowmon, on the other hand, seems to be powerful on her own to take on Blastmon. She is shown to attack and split in bursts of energy. Her catchphrase seems to be, “Can I destroy him now?â€
Now for the minor Digimon. Though it is called “Scorpiomon†in Japanese, it is called “SkullScorpiomon†in English. Because a Digimon called Scorpiomon that debuted in Digimon Adventure already made its presence known, we’ll call this one SkullScorpiomon. Like its predecessor, SkullScorpiomon works best in sand, and like its namesake, SkullScorpiomon’s tail contains a deadly poison. It is said that the poison is much quicker than the data transmission of pain, so it is somewhat of a deadly assassin.
Evilmon is a very basic grunt Digimon of the Virus type. They first appeared in Digimon Adventure as Pierrotmon’s minions. Not much to say about them, but it seems that they’re given a personality.
Next is Revolmon, a humanoid-like Digimon with a huge gun nose for its main body. It’s always wearing a hat and is often portrayed as a sheriff of justice, much like its Digimon Adventure 02 origins. It seems that this time around, Revolmon was looking for a good General to pass the Code Crowns and DigiMemories. His affiliation was sort of hinted when he explained how the DigiMemories worked.
BigMamemon makes his appearance once again on Digimon. His first debut was one of the nvading Digimon in Adventure 02, when a band of Mamemon led by Giromon attack France. This time, BigMamemon is the living example of the trap boulders you’d see in movies like Indiana Jones. Unfortunately, it was killed by Blastmon. And now a moment of silence for BigMamemon and the SkullScorpiomon it ran over…
Finally, Pharaohmon makes his very first anime appearance. His first non-card appearance was in the PS1 game, Digimon World 3, as the first boss the main character fights. Because he didn’t do much fighting, we do not know how his attacks work. But we are safe to assume…he can get hurt.
And now, let’s talk about the DigiMemories. The DigiMemories debuted in episode 5, after Taiki receives his second Code Crown. The DigiMemories he received were MarineAngemon, Leviamon, Garurumon, Agumon, and the recently used HolyAngemon. MarineAngemon has the ability to have enemies fall under its charm. Leviamon can conjure up a storm with the waters it is nearby. Agumon is actually three Agumon in one Memorie, firing three separate Baby Flames. Finally, HolyAngemon’s signature technique, Heaven’s Gate, sends enemies to another place, where as its original from Digimon Adventure simply set them to another dimension (which is the same as killing them, I think…). I forgot what Garurumon’s does. Once used, the DigiMemories turn black and become inactive. However, it seems that when Taiki goes to another Zone, the DigiMemories are reset and become usable again. I knew that it wouldn’t be a one-time thing!
Along with the Code Crown for the Sand Zone, Taiki receives four new DigiMemories: Patamon, V-mon, Guilmon, and one more I can’t see. It doesn’t look like MetalGarurumon…but…you know. What abilities will these DigiMemories exhibit?
And that's all there is to this episode. Not...exactly interesting, honestly. All I have left to say is...
[/hide]
Also, I encourage that you try out my quiz in my previous review. It'd be fun to test how much you know or have seen in Digimon Xros Wars!...Please? It's not fun to watch something you worked on get ignored...
