PAX West: Decidueye Shown Off In New Demo

Despite the Nintendo Switch being a new console, Nintendo has been bringing some ports from the Wii U onto it. First came Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and later this month we’re getting Pokemon Tournament DX. This port will bring all the arcade characters that were released into Japan via the Arcade version of the game, as well as a new character via Pokemon Sun and Moon in Decidueye. At PAX West, we got our first look at him in action. As you see, he embraces both his Flying and Grass type moveset, while also embracing his archer like appearance with its super move, which is all kinds of cool. Pokken Tournament DX arrives on September 22nd.

Fire Emblem Warriors is the amalgamation of the Dynasty Warriors franchise and the Fire Emblem franchise. in it, you’ll get to be one of many Fire Emblem characters from three different games and get to destroy vast armies with the push of a few buttons. What’s more, the games roster continues to expand, making everyone wonder how certain characters will be in the game. At PAX West, we got to see a demo of the game with some of the newest characters. Takumi, Hinoka, Xander, and Camilla (all from Fire Emblem Fates) were in the spotlight in this demo. And as you’ll see, not only can you swap them in and out on the fly, but each of them play very differently. The game is set to arrive on October 20th.

Shovel Knight is one of the most popular games of recent memory. It started out as a Kickstarter, then became a full-on gaming phenomenon, being put into other games, shows, and even getting a special Amiibo figure. What’s more, developer Yacht Club games took their winnings from the main game and made a series of spinoffs/expansions. And now, the last of these are set to arrive soon via Shovel Knight: King of Cards. King of Cards focuses on King Knight, the “glorious” and “regal” member of the Order of No Quarter, and this expansion shows how he got into the group and got his throne. At PAX West, some gameplay was recorded of it. You can check it out below.

At Gamescom, a brand new title from THQ Nordic was revealed in the form of Biomutant, an open-world action game with one heck of a twist. Mainly in that you can alter your characters abilities and genes through certain items in the game, essentially making the character whatever you want it to be in potentia. At PAX West, IGN got to play a massive chunk of the game, and it shows off not only the character they got to create, but also the gameplay that you can expect from the title. Here’s the demo:

There have been some very interesting video game collaborations over the years, but easily one of the most interesting in the last year or so is the free DLC that has come to Final Fantasy XV. Why? Because it features the characters and world of the game getting an Assassin’s Creed makeover, complete with assassin’s garb for Noctis, and a brand new storyline. Oh, and you’ll be able to do parkour style traveling in this special DLC “festival”. It launched yesterday, and in line with PAX West, a gameplay video showing off some of what you can do in the game was released, you can watch it below:

Fans were very surprised when Final Fantasy XV was revealed to be coming to PC. But they were even MORE surprised when a mobile version was announced via Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition.  What’s more, the game isn’t just a “dumbed down” version of the main game. It’s in fact an entire remake of the game, just with Chibi graphics and a simplified battle system. For proof of this, look at this demo, which shows the first 20 minutes of the game, and proves just how accurate a representation of it that it is.

You might think that the Amiibo craze has died down, and yet, you couldn’t be more wrong, as Nintendo is still bringing out more and more figurines for various games. But in an interesting twist, a new trio of Amiibo have been confirmed for a game that was not made by Nintendo: Shovel Knight. Now yes, Shovel Knight has been on both the Wii U and the Nintendo Switch, but it’s still a multiplatform game, yet, Yacht Club Games and Nintendo are back again to make Shovel Knight Amiibo. This time, they’re making them for Plague Knight, Spectre Knight, and King Knight. If that sounds familiar somehow, it’s because these were the main characters of the spinoffs/expansions of Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows, Spectre of Torment, and the upcoming King of Cards. They even had a special trailer made for the game…umm…yeah, this was made and done by Game Grumps, who show the “love” of Amiibo in…uh…interesting ways…you’ve been warned.

During their panel at PAX West, Telltale Games took the stage to deliver some additional details surrounding the highly-anticipated third season of The Walking Dead. Since its unveiling at E3 in June, the title and release window for the next season of the series have been tightly under wraps. Now, Telltale have announced that The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series – A New Frontier will be premiering this November on consoles, PC/Mac, and mobile platforms. The series will also be available for purchase on a special ‘Season Pass Disc’ for consoles, which will include the premiere episode for the third season, as well as access to all subsequent episodes in the five episode season for download as they become available. Telltale have announced that the second of five episodes in their Batman series, Episode 2: Children of Arkham will be available digitally worldwide starting Tuesday September 20th on PC from the Telltale Online Store, Steam, and other digital distribution services, on the PlayStation Network for PlayStation 4, and on the Xbox Games Store for Xbox One. They also announced that visitors to PAX West will be able to have a glimpse of the game. The series will also be available to purchase at retailers starting September 13th in North America as a special Season Pass Disc, which will include the first of five episodes in the season, and will grant access to the subsequent four episodes as they become available for download via online updates. The series will then be available to purchase at retailers across Europe on September 16th.
