“Superman/Batman: Public Enemies” Blu-ray Review
Featuring Batman and Superman as headliners, fists fly and heroes come to blow in the latest animated feature from the DC Universe Animated Original Movie line. Based on the initial six-issue “Public Enemies” arc from the Superman/Batman comic series, Superman and Batman go toe to toe with a plethora of friends and foes in an attempt to stop yet another evil plot courtesy of Lex Luthor. And, yes, while this movie is just filled to the brim with overblown action sequences and fight scenes, it also doesn’t try to be anything else but a big “smash-em-up” with an assortment of different DC characters from beginning to end. As much as that may be a hinderance for the movie, it’s also the biggest selling point for Superman/Batman: Public Enemies as well. Synopsis:A desperate solution for a troubled country: Lex Luthor for President with the Justice League in the service of the government. Only Batman and Superman stand against the new regime – and their disloyalty proves to be exactly what Luthor

“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Season 4” DVD Review
When it comes to cable TV (that isn’t of the premium variety), there are few channels with original programming that truly stand out. USA has come into play in recent years for their “character’s welcome” franchise of shows and even TNT and TBS have some original programming mixed in with the syndicated shows and films. But when it comes to comedy and drama that is so expletive it should almost be on Showtime or HBO, FX reins king. While it too shows older films and the like, it’s also known for a whole variety of programming such as the Emmy-winning Damages, Nip/Tuck, and Rescue Me. But those who are looking for a real comedic treat (now that Rescue Me is between seasons) should look no further than FX’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. The show is without a doubt one of the rudest and crudest things I have ever seen on television—and that includes HBO and Showtime. SynopsisStep up to the bar at Paddy’s Pub and brace yourself for a
“Hannibal Lector Anthology” Blu-ray Review
Collecting arguably the three greatest Hannibal movies into one collection, it’s pretty amazing to see what stunners this film series was at one point. Taut and thrilling, these movies are every bit the hallmark of great story-telling and clever filmmaking. Sure, the quality of a couple of the films included here can be debated, but all three hold the honor of being the best films based on the Hannibal Lecter character before the film series took a beeline straight for the gutter. So, let’s push aside the synopsis and see exactly what this film collection holds. Synopsis:Witness the birth of evil in spine tingling clarity, as the eerie and intense Hannibal Lecter Anthology captures Manhunter, The Silence of the Lambs, and Hannibal together on stunning Blu-ray Disc for the first time. Manhunter, the intense thriller from writer-director Michael Mann, first introduced the world to the cunning, unforgettable serial killer, Dr. Hannibal Lecter. The psychological horror continues inThe Silence of the Lambs with Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins as the sophisticated murderer,
“Scrubs: The Complete Eighth Season” DVD Review
Scrubs is the series that just won’t die—and despite a ninth season in the works that promises to majorly mix things up (new location, semi-new cast), Scrubs seems to weather through all of the harsh times and come out on top. Now with this eighth season on DVD and no start date for the ninth season yet in sight, fans can tide themselves over with one last helping of Scrubs goodness in what can only be considered another solid season from the cast and crew at Sacred Heart. SynopsisEnjoy every surreal moment of Scrubs’ hilarious eighth season as television’s celebrated sitcom delivers “much more loopy, creative humor that fans have come to know and love,” raves Chicago Tribune. It’s a different world for attending physicians J.D., Turk and Elliot as they have their own interns to confuse and bewilder, and a major shakeup in the hospital staff might be enough to finally unite Dr. Kelso and Dr. Cox. Get a big shot of comedy as your favorite characters, and some
“The Guild: Seasons 1 & 2” DVD Review
Truly good TV shows are hard to come by. Truly good web series are even harder to come by. Simply put the series online are usually lacking in production value or truly good talent to be taken seriously. Or when they are well-produced, the concept is mildly interesting but not enough to be something you truly go out of your way to watch. Recently, however, original content produced by online groups and communities has taken an upswing and a large reason for that is due to The Guild. A series created, produced, and starring Felicia Day (most notably of Joss Whedon universe fame), The Guild centers on a group of MMORPG players who have their own local guild. A bit of a niche concept, but the internet is all about dialing in on ideas and concepts that are often focused towards one group anyway. SynopsisCyd Sherman, a.k.a. Codex (Felicia Day) has hit bottom. Dumped by her boyfriend, her employer and her therapist, she drowns her sorrows the way any modern
“Life on Mars: The Complete Series” DVD Review
Series with unique premises never seem to last in the modern day television landscape. Nor do series based off of UK counterparts (The Office being a bit exception to the rule). So when Life on Mars debuted on ABC, the chances of it surviving were already stacked against it. With a time traveling (or something akin to it) cop at the basis for the story, the 70’s set period series took viewers on quite the journey as they attempted to figure out what exactly was going on with Detective Sam Tyler (Jason O’Mara). SynopsisAfter a hit-and-run accident in modern-day New York City mysteriously transports police detective Sam Tyler (Jason O’Mara) back to 1973, Sam finds himself in the cultural hotbed of New York City in the tumultuous times of the Vietnam War, Watergate, women’s lib and the civil and gay rights movements – without a cell phone, computer, PDA or MP3 player — suddenly hurtled back in time when he’s ripped from 2008 after being hit by a car while
“M.A.S.H.” Blu-ray Review
While most noted for the tamer (but no less entertaining) television show of the same name that has been in syndication since TV was invented (or something like that), M*A*S*H began as a simple two hour film from Robert Altman all the way back in 1970 (yes this film is nearly forty years old). The off-kilter comedy took the harsh reality of war and focuses on three American army surgeons that goof off in an attempt to not be driven down relentlessly by the horrors that they witness. This film may have been given a paltry budget of $3.5 million, but it went on to gross over $81 million domestically…no small feat for an R rated comedy in 1970. SynopsisOne of the world’s most acclaimed comedies, M*A*S*H focuses on three Korean War Army surgeons brilliantly brought to life by Donald Sutherland, Tom Skerritt and Elliott Gould. Though highly skilled and deeply dedicated, they adopt a hilarious, lunatic lifestyle as an antidote to the tragedies of their Mobile Army Surgical Hospital,
“Misery” Blu-ray Review
Rarely does a horror film come along that does well with critics and manages to garner nominations. But leave it to novelist Stephen King and director Rob Reiner to bring together such a film with Misery, for which Kathy Bates won an Oscar. The film has long been a favorite among movie fans and critics alike for its engaging portrayals, unique plot and setting and also just for the sense of dread and fear that it manages to maintain from start to finish. Now with the Blu-ray edition on shelves, Misery fans can prepare to view the film in full high-definition. SynopsisNovelist Paul Sheldon (Caan) doesn’t remember the blinding blizzard that sent his car spinning off the road. Nor does he remember being nursed back from unconsciousness. All he remembers is waking up in the home of Annie Wilkes (Bates) a maniacal fan who is bent on keeping her favorite writer as her personal prisoner for the rest of his “cock-a-doodie” life! Occasionally you’ll get such a good horror/thriller that
“High Crimes” Blu-ray Review
After starring together in Kiss the Girls, Fox paired Ashley Judd and Morgan Freeman up again for 2002’s High Crimes. Though not as well received as Girls, Crimes made its budget back domestically and served as another solid suspense/crime drama to add to the pairs film roster. This is all despite a poor reception by critics, who panned it for its predictability and retread of plots from other films that were done better and with a bit more subtly. SynopsisAshley Judd stars as Claire Kubik, a high-powered attorney whose perfect life comes down when her husband is charged with high crimes of murder. Enlisting the aid of a shrewd military lawyer (Morgan Freeman), Claire will risk her career and even her life to find the truth in this “head-snapping thriller” (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel). There’s a reason High Crimes came into theaters, hit home video and promptly disappeared. The reason, of course, is that it’s quite a mediocre film and as such you’d be hard pressed to find anyone who would
The Forgiven – A commentary on the exploitative side of the tourism industry
The Forgiven is an adaptation of a Novel of the same title. It was written by the British writer Lawrence Osborne. It is also the reunion project between Ralph Fiennes and Jessica Chastain. The Two of them last worked together in the 2011 film Coriolanus. Speaking of Jessica Chastain, There is a certain Youtube Channel that always give hostile reviews to Jessica Chastain films. I can see that Youtuber giving negative reviews to this movie when she hasn’t even watched it. The Forgiven was loosely based on true events that Lawrence Osborne experienced when he was in vacation at Morocco. He notice the division between the wealthy and the unprivileged. An unfair world were tourists have more rights than the locals because they have money and influence. The Forgiven official Trailer David Henninger (Ralph Fiennes) and his Wife Jo (Jessica Chastain) wanted to slow down with life. Both of them felt the need for a break from their fast paced life in London. So What could give them the temporary
Daredevil Will Return In New Disney+ Series
They’ve been hinting at it, but today they made it official. Marvel has announced a new Daredevil series is coming to Disney+ at an unspecified time. They didn’t say who was playing, but it’s a bit obvious. Charlie Cox played the Man Without Fear in the 2015 Netflix series, and after the rights reverted to Disney, he showed up as Murdock again in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Vincent D’Onofrio was Kingpin in that series, and he came back in the same role on the Hawkeye series. So there’s little doubt it will be those guys once more. The question is…in what form? Will this new Daredevil series be a continuation of the Netflix series, or will it establish its own continuity? If it’s the latter, it could get messy, as the Netflix show was meant to take place in the MCU even if it wasn’t allowed to explicitly use Avengers characters. If it’s the former, there’s no way Disney+ will let it get as gritty as the first show was
