Obsidian Entertainment’s Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire now has a publisher. The developer has announced that the sequel to their 2015 hit RPG will be distributed by Versus Evil, who are perhaps best known for publishing The Banner Saga series.
The news is slightly surprising considering that Paradox Interactive recently handled publishing duties for the first game when it released on home consoles. “We are thrilled to be working with the team at Versus Evil on Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire, the first sequel we’ve ever made into one of our own IPs,” said Obsidian CEO Feargus Urquhart.
There’s also still no announcement about an exact release date other than that the team are working towards an early 2018 launch. It is currently unknown whether the title will also make it onto the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. It will likely depend on how successful the release of its predecessor was on these platforms.
