The First Metal Trailer For Netflix’s Punisher
Frank Castle made his debut in the second season of Daredevil. Now he’s about to get his own series, and Netflix still won’t commit to a release date even though they promised it for 2017 and they have less than three months to commit. Our best educated theory is November — they wouldn’t want it stealing any hype from Stranger Things, and it would make a weird Christmas present.
These days you don’t see many of the Macho Man trailers you got in the 80’s and early 90’s — the era The Punisher rose to popularity in. In fact, the first live-action adaption of The Punisher, starring Dolph Lundgren, came out around that time and followed the template to a T. This trailer feels like a real throwback, especially when Frank goes “NEYAAAAAAAAA” while running through a concrete-enforced room while his giant gun goes BUDDA-BUDDA constantly. The Metallica soundtrack also helps.

Is The Punisher a dated fantasy from the 80’s about how all your problems could be solved by just shooting at them? Pretty much. Frank’s no hero, and he doesn’t have the “Vietnam vet” excuse anymore. He could be an awkward and uncomfortable fit in a time like this, but it’s too early to say — the show’s not out yet.
The Punisher: Season One will be released sometime within 2017 on Netflix.
