We Miss Double (W) Thread

My biggest disappointment was that the police were a fucking joke. I was hoping for a return to the Kuuga/Agito style where the police actually did their job and tried to fight the monsters even if they got wasted. Instead we got 1 mildly retarded character who had a few good moments and his partner, the most unlikable character in any rider series since 2000.
.

...did they ever actually try to fight Dopants in any point in W?

Did the evolution of GaiaMemories bring you closer to Double?

I mentioned it before but up until then the first episodes bored me, with the final nail in the coffin being the heaven's tornado 2 parter. I wasn't really interested in the gaiamemory evolution as they really didn't do anything with it. 'oh hey you are lvl 2 nasca, nice, I'm only mentioning this fact now because when you die I will use nasca at lvl3 and this is a way to make me be on par with the stronger good guys/my sister later on'.

I started to like it because of how horrifying something like the virus story was. After that **** got real for like 35 episodes in a row, so I was hooked. :P

In Double, they could not. The police did not have the power to fight Dopants. They could come in and arrest the person after the Memory was broken, but before then, they stood no chance. Terui Ryu was the one who got into the fight soon because he was ready to kill or die. When he got the Accel Driver, he was the one person on the Police force who could fight the Dopants. The police did interfere with Dopant activity, but stop a Dopant? Never. Unless it was maybe a Masquerade like Terui stopped a few times. (Poor Masquerades. They are the laughingstock of the Dopant universe.)

The police are usually useless half of the time in Rider series anyways, so it's not like it's unexpected.

The police in Kuuga and Agito knew they were going to get their **** stomped but they tried to fight them regardless because it was their job. They were always trying new ways to help out Kuuga and eventually Agito and their strongest weapon, G3, still got trashed more times than Terui but they still kept at it.

In Double the police didn't even know Terui, Shotaro and Philip were riders for the majority of the series, there would be no reason for them to not try to help out even if they stood no chance. Besides Terui basically forgot he was a cop for most of the series after he became bros with Shotaro. In episode 49 when he told Shotaro to go on ahead and that he would deal with the kids because it was his job, I was like 'hey~! you remembered!'

It's not like I don't like Double. I really liked it. but yes, I am a fan of Cool guy.

I figured they would use the 'gaiamemories can level up' aspect to help make the later monster still be a threat to Double as he grew more powerful, but nope, it was only written in their to give Saeko a powerup.

You're way off the mark. :nono: The police knew that there were Kamen Riders and Jinno knew Shotaro had some kind of connection with Double so the police was on standby for after the Dopant was defeated. That was their way of helping. Otherwise, things wouldn't have worked.

GaiaMemory evolution was not for Saeko. It was a concept that would lead to the creation of the Gaia Impact and the increase of Dopant power. It also showed compatibility between users and it showed how that compatibility increased power. That was also then used to show that a combination of Terui's Accel side and Raito's Cyclone side could create the most powerful Double form. That was then used to show Shotaro was indeed the trump card. He was not the most compatible partner in terms of strength, but he was the perfect partner. The evolution of GaiaMemories could also have led to a new world with Utopia's direction. He failed, but the power of the Memories remained.
Anyway, I think you'll get the point of it now. At least I hope.
That's some reading I set up there without noticing.

You're way off my mark! I didn't say the police didn't know about the existence of Kamen Riders but that they didn't know who they were so there would be no reason not to help. They never even tried to help from the beginning, whose to say that regular guns wouldn't be effective?

The direct compatibility of you and your memory from the beginning, and your ability to strengthen your Dopant powers by leveling up seemed to be different things, as Kirihiko, who wasn't the most suitable for the Nasca memory, was still able to level up his powers while his compatibility with the memory never improved as it is a natural compatibility.
