Ultraman - Talk Up!

I'm done with Volume 1. Gosh, I LOVE the original Ultraman. I must say it's one of the best Tokusatsu ever I have seen. I think Ultraman will be top and Ultraman Tiga is in the 2nd place.

Here's a spoiler from episode 16, I got the picture from UltramanLah! I must say... POOR BALTAN II!!

I got to say that Baltan is one of the best Kajiu ever. BALTAN #1! Anyway, that was awesome part. Wow. Hehe.

I can't wait to get Volume 2 in October. Is there another Baltan on volume 2? I hope so! He's one of my favourite Kajiu and always!!

I think the Baltan is best finished off in that way, sliced into half. It's so great to see it happened again in Ultraman 80 when 80 remembered how the original Ultraman finished off that creature and split! goes Baltan again.

heh FR, Baltan isn't a kaijuu but a seijin.

Ah, Ive always thought that Baltan is a kajiuu.

And I hate to be a little bit stupid... what's the translate of seijin? I know Kaijiuu means Monster.

Episode 21 was pretty interesting. I actually liked the monster, Kemler. I gotta say... poor Kemler.

Episode 22 was pretty creepy and interesting.

Episode 23 - I liked it. Jamila looks werid but poor Jamila.

I have a question about episode 23....

-How come the water can kill Jamila soo easily? The fire can't stop Jamila but water? I guess it's cuz of space, I dunno.

-In the end of episode 23, the tombstone appeared and it said "1960-1993", so Ultraman takes place in 1993?? :sly: That is just confused because I've always thought that Ultraman took place in 1966. So what's up with that? :eyebrow:

Can't wait to see the final episode but I will need to watch the whole episode all way up to episode 39.

ULTRAMAN was indeed set in the 1990s, simply because of this element. Originally, before production, they set the series in the near future, and were thinking more along the lines of the 1970s or 1980s, but since the memorial plate for A. Jamila says 1960-1993, that particular episode takes place in 1993 (interestingly, the original ULTRA SEVEN series was set in the 1980s).

Since Jamila was transformed from a human being into a mutant creature on a planet devoid of water, Jamila was essentially overwhelmed by the spray of high-pressure water, which led to his demise. It's not supposed to be taken literally, but more as a metaphor (there's a lot of that in the episodes after 13, if you'll notice).

yea, interestingly enough, ULTRASEVEN was set in 1987, which was a bit more believable with the addition of the out-of-canon 1994, 1998/1999 and 2002 videos. If they had followed what they had initially set out to do, Ultraman 80 would have been the first Ultraman to step on the Earth.

Seijin is literally "star-man", or alien. there's a mix of seijin and kaijuu in Ultraman. notable seijins in Ultraman are Baltan-seijin, Zarab-seijin, Mephilas-seijin (who returns in Tarou) and Zetton-seijin.
