Ultraman - Talk Up!

I got box set today. I will be watching it today.

Also, I will post those pictures today and show you how it looks. Those are awesome.

I'm on episode 6 right now. Dang, that was awesome. They did was totally awesome because they made the whole models stuff (like grounds, vehicles and others...etc) and good special effect. Oh and the quality was sooooooooo good. Very sharp.

I'm loving Ultraman so far. :buttrock:

EDIT: I forget to say something.... Akiji Kobayashi (who used to appear in Five Kamen Rider series) is in Ultraman as Captain Muramatsu!!! :buttrock: I knew it was him. When I first saw the episode 1 and the man looked so familiar and thought myself "I've seen that guy before". And then later I said "AH! That guy who used to be in Kamen Rider series!!"

EDIT 2: I liked when Ide has became a suspect on Hayata because he has been disappered alot. Can't wait to see what happens.

The set's getting many bad reviews. I read some good/decent reviews, but there are far more of the bad ones. It seems, BCI didn't put as much work into the audio and maybe the video and english subs as they did with the packaging (which looks awesome btw).

I won't have the set itself for a couple of weaks, but I'm already expecting to be dissapointed.

I picked it up release day, and I dig it so far. I've been watching the dubs, and the one thing I've noticed is the effects are ALOT louder than the speaking part, so it can be kind of a pain not to annoy the neighbors since I"m in and apartment.

Overall though, the quality is great. Picture is nice and clear, and the dubs are pretty good, previously noted issue aside.

That's because Chaiyo cheaply pirated the Panasonic R2s for the video and the English audio was ripped from bootlegs (from multi-gen off-air copies from the 1980s). Only Tsuburaya Productions owns the Japanese, English, Spanish and French audio masters.

I fear that Lucifer's Hammer will soon be coming down in Thailand...

Many of the reviews were blaming BCI, but I knew it had to be on Chaiyo's end. I really hope BCI doesn't continue a relationship with them after Volume 2. I'd rather wait however long it takes, if it means getting future classic Ultraman releases lisenced straight from the source. What really gets me is one reviewer claiming that BCI had the option to go through Tsuburaya. But from the Henshin Online! interview it didn't seem that way at all. (or so we are led to believe) It may have also been the same reviewer that claimed Tsuburaya had no interest in marketing Ultraman outside of Japan. Which I don't buy in any way.

I knew something was up when the Japanese track had better quality than the English. Still, I got it for 12 bucks thanks to an employee discount so I can't complain. I'm mainly watching it for the Japanese tracks anyways.

It's a double edged sword: It's awesome because of the exposure and the fact that the popularity from this may give TPC ideas if the rumors to release Ultraman Max/Nexus in the states hold up. However it sucks in the sense that we're supporting Chaiyo by buying it and the quality sucks in certain areas.

It's like buying an AnimEigo DVD, buy it knowing full well that there's only the Japanese track with subs. Here's hoping the Shadow Warriors/Kage no Gundan release holds up better.

Be nice if this would be the final nail in the coffin for Chaiyo though...

Dang, I want this set...I'd be so happy if Gaia (series, not movie, mind you. :anime:) ever saw a subtitled release. :buttrock:
