Stan Lee Developing Gay Superhero Project

Showtime is developing an hourlong project from comic book icon Stan Lee that tracks the life of a gay superhero, says The Hollywood Reporter.

The project is being executive produced by Lee and the president and CEO of his Pow! Entertainment banner, Gill Champion.

The story, which focuses on an up-and-coming superhero who struggles to hide his secret identities, is based on the book "Hero" by Perry Moore.

Moore is writing the script and also executive producing along with Hunter Hill.

Why should it matter that he's gay? I realize they're trying to be open-minded but it seems pointless unless they plan to inject a bunch of homoerotic innuendo or sex scenes into the movie, and then nobody will see it anyway.

Ugh.... I hate **** like this. Thing us minorities want is just to be characters in fiction. Not "the black" version of this or "the gay" version of that.

I don't mind a gay superhero at all, but when you base the story around that, that I have an issue with.

I couldn't agree with you more. When's the last time you've seen a movie based solely on the main character being Caucasian? Exactly...

Don't care about the race, gender, or sexuality of a movie character, but when it gets flaunted like this... I can't help but get annoyed. :redface2:

I honestly can't say I dont like it. Something about minorities in a show interest me. I've always wanted a black 6th ranger, or a gay superhero. It makes things interesting.
