This is not about HELPING the country. This is in a terrorist situation, if there's not enough time to spend on traditional interrogation when there's intel about a pending attack, and lives are on the line, innocent lives, THAT'S what you use these methods for, not to just "help" a country. The United States is not going around the world killing innocent people, blowing up women an children in public places because we hate a society or to make a political point. There's a HUGE difference.

There also really is a huge difference, and the problem with this is there's so much gray area that you can't say right or wrong on it all as a whole.

Did I say i support it? No. But it is not essential to my everyday life for me to know if they wound up having to use it as a last resort to potentially save our country.

You're not supportin it, but you think it's needed in certain cases. Almost the same in my book. To me, it isnt needed, never; maybe it's my life, my own experience that's speakin.

I know the US has had to torture for information. However all the situations depend on if it's possibly needed or not. There's no black or white answer. There's far too much gray area. And I have no idea where you're getting that I need to stand up to the international community? I don't care what other countries think of us, however, for sake of foreign relations we probably shouldn't piss off everyone. It's a fine line that has to be walked carefully.

I was referrin to what Keith said, anyway...I know well americans do not care what other countries thinks [and this by itself means alot, but it's also another matter], but the point is not to piss off others. The point is to be civil or not. to me a country where torture is "tolerated in certain cases" is not so civil, and I dont think I'm the only one thinkin so. Don't want to offend anyone, but torture is so medieval

That's kinda the point Keith and I were trying to make though. It shouldn't be accepted or bragged about or plastered all over the news that we've done it. There is a possibility of some cases where it needs to be used. But it shouldn't be acceptable to do so.

Hope i'm making sense. I've been running on an hour of sleep after having to stay up all night and today with my puppy because she was borderline having to go to the emergency room -_-. I'm slightly delirious, and thus probably am talking in weird circles

I was out of line with that comment, but everything edge has said you can hear on any of those fox news shows daily.

I agree with you there, that's why we can't rule it out completely. You have to have all options. If your enemy knows there's a limit, then they know what to prepare for and can resist spilling information that we might need to save lives.
