Mirai Sentai Timeranger

There were elements of the show which felt old-school, or like it was a show from sentai's better years, I think. Most can't get over its bizarre sense of humor, though.
That was the problem for me. AbaRanger seemed like a struggle when I was watching it, like I just wanted to get it over with. The show certainly seemed old school-ish, though...which was probably the problem for me. I couldn't take the cheesiness that older fans love? AbaRanger did get much better toward the end though.

What I'd thought was that those three shows in particular were darker...but I guess there is no exact explanation when it comes to tastes.

I've seen only first three episodes and I thought it was great. Of course, Timeranger is pretty similar to one of my favorite adaptation called Power Rangers Time Force. I'm even more curious about Timeranger and see how it goes.

Hurricanger and Abaranger were AWESOME. Along with Dekaranger and Gekiranger!

That's not really what I meant. I just meant that the heroes were respectable, the stories were good, the humor didn't fall flat and so on. One of the big criticisms of the new shows is that the heroes are too silly or immature or that there's too much forced humor. I didn't think that about Abaranger or its heroes; the humor could be excessive at times, but I never felt it came at the price of the main characters' intelligence. They were thrust into bizarre situations, it wasn't a result of their own incompetence or idiocy.

Yeah he's right about Aba. One Of my favorite moments from the series is when Ranru and Ryouga where wondering what the hell is up with the monster that was like a bank and the whole wig thing . It could be pretty self aware of some the ridiculousness of some the situations made it work for me.

Generally, the reasoning is because they're less wacky than most of the other sentai this decade. More believable heroes, better stories. But Timeranger almost seems (to me, anyway) like a book being closed with sentai, because it became a different animal after that, it started to seem different in the style they went with.

Which means that there's many old-school fans who don't like Abaranger. For me, Abaranger made that zany humor work -- the cast was great and dedicated, the story was awesome, the characters were good. The show had a lot of heart...Abaranger's my favorite sentai of the '00s. There were elements of the show which felt old-school, or like it was a show from sentai's better years, I think. Most can't get over its bizarre sense of humor, though. I think a lot of Dekaranger's problem is trying to keep Abaranger's wackiness, when it didn't fit and the cast wasn't as dedicated. Aba and Deka were written by the same guy, and you can spot his fondness for old-school sentai in both. If Deka had eased up on the cutesiness, it would probably be on the list, too.

Yeah, I definitely know what you mean. Aba had its moments of sheer stupidity, but the characters more than made up for it. Ryoga broke the tired cliche of the happy-go-lucky red leader being a total idiot. That's why whenever he actually got mad at someone, it was really scary. The story surrounding Asuka was pretty gripping too.

Abaranger was a definite surprise since everything it did was pretty fresh. Meanwhile, Dekaranger was totally by the numbers. It was like everything was picked out based on popularity from previous shows. It wasn't bad, but it didn't really do anything unique. Plus it went completely overboard with adding new members. It was approaching Gran-Sazer levels of ridiculosity. No seriously, only 3 more and they would have surpassed Gran-Sazer. Yeargle...

Hmm. I loved every single episode of DekaRanger, and it didn't seem cliche to me at all. Before I knew it, I was sucked into the episodes... But with AbaRanger, most of it (the latter half to third was really enjoyable) was really tedious and mundane to watch. For me.

I enjoyed TimeRanger very much. From the sleek suit designs to the dramatic time travel plot to even the romantic angles with the characters. I also agree with the post that complimented the soundtrack. I love that haunting theme they use for the 30th Century.

I also really dug Tatsuya's character for not wanting to have his future defined for him by anyone or anything else. It was interesting year as it was the same year as Kamen Rider Kuuga. Ahh, what a wonderful thing it is when you have a year where you enjoy both the sentai and the Rider series.

I love Timeranger, Gekiranger, and Abaranger. I feel all three of those are excellent series. Timeranger kept me interested through the whole series. so has Gekiranger. Abaranger had me laughing a lot of the time.

I only saw the first five episodes and episode 34. Timeranger is really good, but Time Force is so similar to it. :shakefist
Watch all of Time Ranger episode and I believe your opinion will change.

This is one point why I think PR is more light-hearted then Sentai.

Anyway I love Time Ranger. The flow of the Drama is soo good. Every character is been deeply shown each of their character and problems. And the ending was so........... (see for your self I don't want to spoil you).
