I too absolutely despise jerkish second riders. I hate them with every fibre of being. But I do like Baron right now, a lot. As someone else said, he seems a bit rough around the edges - and he also seems quite abrasive, to me - but at the same time he's clearly not only a good person in the sense that he's honourable, fair, etc, but also just generally like a kind person. That scene of him basically demanding the child jump out of the tree and then catching him painted a really good impression of him.

I'm liking Kota more this episode. I liked him just fine last episode, but we got to see more of his flaws this episode, and he came across as a much more well-rounded character because of it.

And I think Mai is great, and she makes a good counterpoint to Kota and Baron (what is that guy's name?). I've high hopes for her.

The only thing I don't like about Baron right now was the dancing... It felt somewhat mechanical. It's probably intentional, but it lacked the energy that Team Gaim showed.

Baron would probably be a fan favorite by the series' end, but he also seems the kind of character that's likely to be killed off somewhere in the middle. I really hope he doesn't do a Yaguruma and turn into a twisted version of himself.

Another great episode. I liked the goofy "henshin pose" scene. I think we would.all try to come up with a cool pose if we found a belt. Although Kaito seems to be of a jerkass he has a good heart. (Bonus points for crushing Peko's slingshot). By the middle of the season I think he and Kota will be friends. Also the fight was pretty awesome when the Inves mutated. The orange headbutt and the debut of Pine Arms was great.

I'm going to continue to say that Yggdrasil will be evil in the end because right now they seem shady as ****. Also I still need to get used to this one episode story, since I feel conditioned to two episode stories.

Yuuya did take it. He said Yuuya was an idiot because he gained the belt but let someone else use it.

Yeah, I feel like the deal with Yuuya is that his disappearance will be a through-line that ties together the early parts of the show, when things are being introduced. Something happened to Yuuya after he took the belt to Helheim, that much is clear, but we don't know exactly what. And we don't know enough about the setting to usefully speculate at this point. So I'm betting that whatever Yuuya's fate turns out to be ends up revealing something else substantial about the setting.

It's Kaito Kumon. I think it tipped the scales in his favour for me that Team Baron apparently call him by his first name, and that after he bitched out that guy for cheating, they went to a shot of one of the others looking worried/upset. It makes it seem more like Team Baron have some level of friendship (or at least that Baron runs the group fairly) and they're not just a gang of bullies.

I really like his dynamic with Mai, I could easily watch a spin-off about them sniping at each other and having Inves battles. They are hilarious

Hmm, I'm not sure what to make of the fact that Lock Seeds - and by extension, power-ups, are things that literally uhh, grow on trees. Doesn't really stop anyone with a Sengoku Driver and a way to get into the forest from just waltzing in, and providing they live long enough, do their daily five-a-day shopping for absolutely free, before waiting a bit for the fruit to ripen into new plastic toys. And I suppose if they keep losing their supply of lock seeds, or keep breaking them, as we've seen this week, they'll have to regularly go pick more.

The fact that we've still no real clue who Griton/Gridon's user is supposed to be, coupled with the fact that his/her Lock Seed is a tier behind the other riders', suggested to me that it could just be this series's equivalent of the Delta belt. Everyone gets a go at it, and it might settle for a slightly more permanent user down the line. At least that was what I thought until this episode established the fact that only the first user of a belt can be the rider. I suppose for now, all we have to go on is the possibility that this is an underling of Baron.

Didn't like the fight against the CGI Eldritch Abomination as expected, but other than that, I really enjoyed this episode. Got a lot of chuckles out of me, and I'll echo the sentiment that if I were in his position, I would totally spend hours playing around with the belt. I wouldn't whip it out and change in public though.

The recently published interview suggested that there is a single Gridon user and he's someone that they thought adults would identify with. That seems like it would rule out any of the other Team Baron guys unless they have their own version of Yuya hidden somewhere ...

Funny thing, I absolutely hated the giant CG monsters fights in Wizard. But this one I kinda liked actually. Sure, the effects are... well... you know... The actual battle however was perfectly fine with me, choreography and interactions with the beast, which is a first.
