Tons of lovely and poorly CGI'd spiders all over the place, of course Kamen Rider series tend to think it's cute to make the first monster that's faced be a spider or bat themed one most of the time.
For Hibiki, I would simply say keep an open mind because it is incredibly different from any Kamen Rider series before and after it, both thematically and in terms of the story told (at least up until episode 30), so you really have to go into it with no preconceived notions of what a Kamen Rider series "should" be.
I am developing a hate for Asumu..he just follows Hibiki like a stalker..he went to the mountains just to tell Hibiki he passed the HS entrance exam and got lost in the process..Akira is right that what he does is getting lost, eat and sleep.
I finished up Hibiki a few days ago, and I'm watching the movie as I type this.
I went into Hibiki with an open mind. Granted, a negative opinion was pretty much drilled into my head, but so was Den-O, and I really enjoyed that too.
To put it simply, I was blown away. I'll be the first to say that I am a VERY character and story driven person, so this was clearly the season for me. All the negatives that people have pointed out in this thread (lack of overall plot, lack of interesting villains, staff change) are all reasonable negatives, in fact, ones that I agree with completely.
With that in mind, I still enjoyed the series enough to easily place it in my top 5, and in my top 3 along side Kiva (my first) and Kabuto (favorite). However, with a second viewing, Hibiki could eventually trump Kabuto. To me, the characters were rich, the acting was great, and the finale, while pretty lame and horrible, closed off the final remaining character stories to the best of it's ability and left my pretty satisfied.
Overall, you definitely can't go into Hibiki expecting the usual Kamen Rider formula. It goes far beyond the norm to bring a heavy, character driven experience.
WORD on all counts. Kurenai was an awesome concept. It's sad that Inoue had to take over from episode 30.
I think it's also a bit sad that Tsuyoshi Kida and Shinji Ooishi had to leave as writers, but also that we never really got to know how it should have ended, would have been awesome with a novel or something to properly end Hibiki, the way it should have been ended.
Other than that is pretty awesome to watch, sadly Inoue's Armed Saber ruined some of the awesomeness, since I actually liked Hibiki Kurenai, seeing it getting ditched in favor of Armed Hibiki... Sad.
