Getting Ready for Hibiki

It's a mixed series, you're gonna either like it or hate it. On the plus it does things most KR series don't do these days and has fun characters. Downside is that it lacks in overall plot and it takes a while to get into Hibiki's lifestyle (first 10 episodes will be a drain to go through)

See for yourself.

Hibiki's biggest strength its is *atmosphere,* I absolutely loved it. The old school feeling of it and the country setting really took gave it an old school 70's toku feel to it. Downright to the kid assistant and a big strong hero.

Another strength is the characterizations and group dynamics, you can tell everybody cares about each other and they are one big happy family. It surely is far from the jaded nature of the likes of Faiz and Blade, that's for sure.

Ultimately it's biggest weakness is in its plot development, over all lack of an interesting main arc, weak uninteresting villains.

i love hibiki

hey, hibiki is quite good u know, although i must admit a bit strange too...

but i like the oni (rider) designs (especially kurenai hibiki)

n the story is sometimes funny too...

n the movie for me was cool

the way they ganged up in the enemy, using music to kick the crap out of him,

so its a decent watch

GO ZANKI :castlerock:

Ok, I got weirded out by the first episode of Hibiki, because it basically felt like "Kamen Rider: The Musical!" :P It did get better, though as other people have said, it tends to lack an overarching plotline beyond the episodic. Also, it had a changeover of staff and such halfway through the show, so the second half is not at all like the first. It's definitely worth a watch, though!

If you're patient, Hibiki will bring you less action, and more character development. It is probably the best KR series, performance wise, showing just what can be done if you bring in established actors into the staring roles, as opposed to the fresh faces that they've gone with since.

That said it's certainly not for everyone. It's not overly heavy on action for the first half, but it's very well written. In the second half it shifts more towards action after the staff was changed to try and get back the younger audience. The series is very met with mixed opinions, because the series is a mixed bag. It's definitely not your typical Rider series, but I loved it for many reasons, primarily the cast and the first half's writing (more so for character interaction than the story itself)

At first, it was a bore. It is something an out of the box Kamen Rider considering that THERE ARE NO BIKES AT THE FIRST EPISODE! And the first few episodes are musicals. Because of this, I want to give up watching Hibiki, until a few episodes later when Hibiki fought a giant crab Makamou and later, the introduction of Ibuki and his apprentice, Akira and later, the introduction of the n00b, Todoroki.

But later, after the introduction of Hibiki Souko, the series sorta loose its darker attititude which is disappointing. Screw you, retool!

People are not you, they won't have the same mindset as you.

Best advice, just watch it and enjoy it.Don't get affected just because people say it isn't nice,it probably might suit you just nice

Best advice you could ever get right there. Just go and watch and enjoy the thing. I enjoyed it, it's one of my favorites. You might enjoy it too. It ain't your typical Kamen Rider show but nevertheless, take it as it is and enjoy. You'll find it more enjoyable that way :D

what it really comes down to, as to whether or not you'll enjoy it, is the mindset you go into it with. If you watch it, expecting to see Blade or Kabuto, you're not going to find what you're looking for. Hibiki is very much so a drama, with action sequences, rather than an action series, with drama.

While there is a lot of detail put into each character, and you get to know most of the primary and secondary Oni quite well, at it's core, the series is basically a high school student's coming of age story. You get to know Asumu quite well, and watch him progress from his initial introverted nature, to his finding someone he can look up to, and emulating him, to the eventual conclusion where he understands that to truly grow up, he needs to be his own man, and forge his own paths, instead of simply following the path others have set before him.

I can say with complete honest that the series was a joy for me. And is the only series that I still watch annually after it's initial run (I'm on my 5th viewing of the series currently) but again, the series is certainly not for everyone. If you're a regular viewer of Dorama you'll probably find it more enjoyable.

thanks for the reply guys..I'll be watching it for real..this is second to the last heisei rider that is available to watch (double is ongoing)...:)
