[CASTING CALLS] CthulhuTech: The Eldritch Society -- Characters / O.O.C. [WARNING: Contains horror.]

Name: Stirling “Liny”
Pack Name: Daredevil
Allegiance: Eldritch Society
Profession: Tager (Student)
Race: Amlati (Xeno-mix)
Virtue(s): Courageous, Honest, imaginative.
Flaw(s): Selfish, impatient.

Physical Appearance: large, pale red eyes in a heart-shaped face with long, cascading black hair. Stirling is, to paraphrase an old saying, ten pounds of kinetic energy trapped in a five pound container, though this is by no means an accurate measurement of her real weight. Her preference for extreme activities has given her a toned physique. Her white Nazzadi tattoos resemble arcs of lightning, symbolizing the sheer momentum her tiny, 5'4" frame produces once she gets moving.

Insanity Points: 1

Background: Stirling is a child conceived during a rather wild, "we survived the war,” party, where both sides were present. Adding alcohol to 20-something year olds with a lot of endorphins surging through their blood was perhaps not the wisest choice made that night. This led to Stirling never knowing who her human father was (although apparently her name had something to do with his), as her mother was settled in the Nazzadi capital of Kalara Baki by the time the young amlati was born.

Stirling grew up with her mother, stepfather, and half-siblings. During her early years, the subject of her heritage was not an issue, and throughout school she used her forceful personality to disarm anyone who made it so. To blend in better with her ethnic surroundings, she went by a nickname, “Liny,” which more closely fit Nazzadi naming conventions. She also came to prefer their term, “Amlati,” over the more widely used Xenomix.

On her 18th birthday, Stirling finally received a letter from her human father, Brent Silvers, a professor of engineering at the University of Wilmarth. After many years of searching, he had finally been able to track down his estranged daughter and was intent on getting to know her better. Stirling made a flash decision, and applied to the institute, where she was accepted to attend courses on art, photography and cultural studies.

In the first week, she spent a lot of time interacting with her younger half-sister on her father’s side, who accidentally dropped her bracelet off the end of a pier. Stirling, armed with a small blade and her chest mounted camera, dove in after it and swam to the bottom of the relatively shallow waters. Unfortunately for her, no water is too shallow for the Deep Ones to lurk in, and no sooner had Stirling found what she was after when she was attacked by one of these abominations. The Amlati reacted by doing the only thing she could think of – she stabbed it in the eyes, and before she even knew what was going on, an even larger creature appeared from nowhere, shredded the Deep One and left the water clouded with blood. Stirling snapped a picture just before it vanshied and escaped before the thing could turn its attention on her, saying nothing about her ordeal to her sister or anybody else.

Stirling tried every single bookshop and library she could find on the island, looking for the sea monster in her photograph. She scoured the internet. Her methods turned up nothing. She did, however, notice a Nazzadi man she did not recognise watching her from the shadows when he thought she might not be looking, and eventually she led him into her favourite library and ambushed him with a finely timed book-bag against the back of his skull. Demanding answers from him, she found him surprisingly willing to divulge information on a group called the Eldritch Society and its holy warriors, the Tagers. It was through her interactions with this man that she came to join the secret society for herself and eventually underwent the Rite of Sacred Union.

Limit Weapon
Multiport – this attack can target anything within a range of twice the Shadow’s average jumping distance. By rapidly teleporting around his target, the Shadow can take double his normal Actions – though no movement – with no Multiple Action Penalty, for one single turn. These attacks occur simultaneously. This uses all Actions and can be the Tager’s only Action that turn.

TAGER STATS

Manifestation: Shadow
Regeneration: 1/2
Fear Factor: 12
Agility: 11
Perception: 9
Strength: 7
Tenacity: 12
Actions: 10
Movement: 9
Reflex: 8
Vitality:14
Armour:1/1

Special abilities:
+4 to Fear Tests when shifted
Micro-hooks
Night vision
Scan
Paralytic Poison – the needles fired by the Shadow are coated with an organic, paralytic poison. This poison requires that the needle do at least one point of Vitality damage to be administered. Anyone affected by the poison must succeed at a Hard Tenacity Feat Test to resist. If this Test is failed, the victim loses 2 Actions per turn for one to ten in-game minutes (roll one die), which can effectively reduce a character’s Actions to zero. Only one Test needs to be made per turn struck by the Shadow’s needles and the effect of the needles is not cumulative. A target may again be affected on the turn following his recovery from the last dose.

Stealth – the Shadow projects a mystical stealth field, which functions like a mecha stealth system except that all Degrees to spot it are increased one category. In addition to rapid, erratic movement, touching anything living (of dog-size or larger) will force the stealth to drop. This ability drains the Orgone of the Tager, at a rate of one point for every in-game half hour invisible. The ability of a Shadow to use its stealth is not affected by this drain. A Shadow may even use this ability when its Orgone has been drained to zero, but Orgone will not regenerate while it is engaged.

Background:
Varna was the second child born to the Lloyd Pentinton and Mevy, who had met during a series of minor negotiations following the end of the war and raised their children with both their cultures in mind. As he grew Varna showed a high aptitude for learning and excelled in school despite some minor language barriers. As he entered his teens however he started to get picked on more and more Varna took to violence in response. One evening when Varna returned home in a with a broken nose Varna’s mother intervened and forced him to take up boxing. Finding an outlet for his more violent tendencies helped him control his more easily.

One afternoon Varna and his elder sister Raimy came home to an empty house. Both their parents were unreachable and did not arrive home for until early in the morning. When they finally arrived home and awoke both their children, the visibly disturbed Lloyd and Mevy with little explanation brought their children into hiding. As the sped away, they explained that they had witnessed a battle between inhuman creatures and that the mostly human groups the tagers had protected them and that for their continued safety they would need go into hiding.
Over the next 4 years, the family adjusted to life within the eldritch society surprisingly well though Varna and to a lesser extent his sister would both feel somewhat smothered by their parents influence. Varna despite some strong recommendations to become a lore keeper within the organization found himself drawn to the role of a Tager. This was partly out of respect for tagers which had protected his parents in the past and partly out of a desire to choose a path for him.

Varna has grown to somewhat regret this decision as he has started to notice some subtle changes within his own behaviour since the undergoing the rite and fears that he soon may be irreversibly changed by his Symbiont’s influence. Despite these fears Varna has kept this Hidden from those around him, when the opportunity presented itself Varna quickly joined the newly founded Wilmarth murder almost desperate for a chance to try and come to terms with his symbiont's influence without having to hide it constantly.

Dammit B, post your character already so we can start plotting to bring Connie back as a suit of powered armor controlled by an AI.

 And all the memories came flooding back! Haha. I'm working on it as fast as I can, but the theatre is a harsh mistress!

After the headache caused by the recent oversight in moderation, I'm happy to finally and officially approve Arieoelle, Icefish and Furyou Miko's characters. Welcome to the game.

Quick question Scotty. Based on the background I gave you, do you mind if I switch something in Grey's Skills? It just occurred to me that it would make a heck of a lot more sense.

Specifically:

Drop:

Literacy: Adept to Novice

Add:

Stealth Specialization(s): Silent Movement; Concealment

-----------------------------------

Wanted to ask before I made the changes. If not that's fine as well. Thanks.

Scotty good sir, I've started on my profile, but I need to go over some stuff with you over Skype later after I get back from work.
