This was the next logical step of Buffy's sexual fetish. Satsu will probably be the first person to understand she's not looking for a permanent relationship, unlike Spike who got the wrong message and raped her for it.

Actually no it's not the next logical step of anything.
It's a tired old cliche that in theory gays and lesbians have been struggling against for years.
"Buffy can't maintain a normal, healthy relationship with anything male so she turns lesbian".
It's BS from Joss been spun as gold by those who faithfully supported him even when he was stabbing them in the back.
You see LOGICAL character development would have had Buffy, you know "GROW UP" and realize that her previously defined desirable qualities in a man aren't very good or healthy which is what 99% of women usually go through when they reach adulthood and realize the 'Bad boy' is bad news for any sort of real relationship.
That would have been a logical, healthy and normal character development.
This is just more crap from Joss because he's run out of ideas again. Just look at the 'season' as it's unfolding thus far,
-Buffy's cut off from Giles.
-Buffy's feeling all alone in the world (again).
-She's going to have another split with Willow.
-Xander and Dawn can't help her because they're powerless (however you want to define that term).
-Twilight's the most poweful big bad yet (even though it's probably Riley in disguise).
Etc...
I bet if you took a season's worth of scripts from the series, put them in a blender, turn it on max, you'd get results similar to what he's vomited on the pages thus far.

She's a straight person whose gone gay once. Being one, I know how often this actually happens. Loads of different medias gone through this thing once and a while. You're just picking at it for the sake of being picky. Although I do agree with you that calling it a logical step is just stupid.
You could do that for ANY show. Sentai has been doing the same thing for 32 years, but no one ever complains about it.
For a guy who hates everything Joss Whendon with a passion, you sure do like to keep up to date with everything he's made.

No I'm picking at it because A)It's effing stupid and B)all the usual suspects are out in support of it.
Same thing when Dollhouse was announced. And that will be canned after one season if that for similar reasons. He doesn't have any 'new' ideas and he's way out of touch with reality and what people really want now.
Different formats though. Sentai has a begining and an end. there's a definite journery that takes place, and lessons are learned. Buffy's been a constant narrative with pretty much the exact same cast of characters going through the EXACT same stories for 8 years now. It's tedious and stupid.
Christ even Spider-man and Superman got married eventually.
Not really, this only pinged my radar because it hit some of the fanfic groups I read. And even those barely made mention of it suffice to say, they thought it was stupid, etc...
What Joss SHOULD have done is gone ahead (IMO) is followed through on one of the initial panels and done the Buffy-Xander relationship. That wouldn't have been nearly as dramatic or I suppose as DARING as this piece of crap he's currently doing, but it would been actually a logical progression, put the characters in NEW situations and been something from which you can get healthy growth forward in the story.
But you know, it's not sexy to do that so we have the lesbian fling.
At least the Buffy/Faith and BuffyWantsWillow groups are happy, so some good has come of this.
