2014 Sentai: Ressha Sentai Tokkyuger - News/Rumor Thread

She hasn't done original anime in a while, last few shows were adaptions. Hm, she also have the upcomming GARO anime for whenever that starts.

But I'm surprised Utsunomiya already comes back to a show. I mean Wizard only just ended.

Kobayashi working with Naomi Takebe is terrible, but Utsunomiya/Kobayashi is the Shinkenger team, so it could be good. In fact even the head director is the same from Shinkenger.

Although we all know they're using Kobayashi in this because of Den-o.

It's that bad, huh?

Yep. And the Rangers are already sounding less like Akibaranger and more like "GingaRed, Ryuunosuke, and Mako/Airi all over again" because she re-uses the same damn character types in every show she writes

Not sure what to think about Utsunomiya. I love Shinkenger and Gokaiger (despite the former being written by Kobayashi) but then we have Wizard, where he made such wonderful creative decisions as to make the plot and the hero's motivation centre on a single character and then hire an actress who could not commit to filming ...

I don't think having Kobayashi is a bad thing, although if you hate Go-busters then this may be a terrible choice for you. I like Shinkenger and Kamen Rider OOO, and I thought Go-busters had more positives than negatives in the series, although the problem is that she didn't write a great Red so it really affected the show. It's possible that after the less-than-favorable feedbacks from Go-busters, Kobayashi will fine-tune Tokkyuger some more, but she will have to do it with some lousy-designed suits, though.

so anyone think that the harmony of 5-persons-in-a-core-team can help Mrs. Kobayashi to (at least) improve her characterization-plot writing skill instead of 3-persons-in-a-core team?

^ She is able to give a whole team equal focus and characterisation ... but Timeranger is the only show where she pulled it off, IMO.

I already am going to hate Yellow. In Kobayashi-speak, "reliable" = arrogant and self-righteous a la Mako, Ryuuji and Airi. And she plays blatant favourites with her characters, so we'll soon find out which one she thinks is her best.

Pink does still sound like AkibaYellow, but we haven't seen how she'll work out yet. According to someone who commented on the character descriptions, "girl putting on different personalities" is considered trendy in Japan at the moment, so maybe Toei mandated the character?
