Uh oh, it looks like Legendary Pictures is back to square one. It has been reported that Will Smith has decided to drop out of sci-fi movie Brilliance. The film is set to be directed by Julius Onah (The Girl is in Trouble, Big Man), and David Koepp (War of the Worlds, Jurassic Park, Spider-Man) is serving as the screenwriter.

Noomi Rapace (Prometheus, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) is set to star in the Legendary Pictures adaptation.

The American film production company is best known for churning out mega blockbusters such as Batman Begins, 300, The Dark Knight, Inception and Godzilla. Films currently in production include Jurassic World, Unbroken and Warcraft.

In addition to producing films, Legendary Productions is also dabbling in marketing, game development, television production and comic book publishing. As of 2014, the company has published five graphic novels.

What happens when X-Men meets Heroes? Enter Brilliance.

Since 1980, only a small percentage of people have been born with extraodinary gifts. A little girl has the ability to read people’s darkest secrets just by the way they fold their arms. A man can pick up patterns in the stock market allowing him to earn $300 billion. A woman is able to conceal from sight by being where no one is looking. These three people have one thing in common: they’re called “brilliants”.

Our protagonist is federal agent Nick Cooper. A brilliant himself, he has a special talent for tracking down terrorists. His target is (surprise, surprise), a fellow brilliant who’s the mastermind behind the  terrorist attack in Washinghton.

Brilliance is the first in a series. The second book, A Better World will be released on 17 June 2014. Mark your calendar if this book/film is to your liking.

Who do you think will make a perfect Nick Cooper? Don’t forget to let us know your thoughts!
