Super Sentai is crap? Not so. Not all of it.
I'm more of a nostalgic fan than most. All the best Super Sentai, IMHO, ended with Dairanger. Before Power Rangers helped it to jump the shark (starting with Kakuranger).
The best years of Super Sentai were all up to the early-to-mid 80s, when the focus was on martial-arts action, and they didn't rely completely on powers or weapons. After Dynaman (my favorite series), the parental groups in Japan really complained about the violent martial arts action, so there was a limit to how much could be featured. So starting with Bioman, it declined. This isn't to say the subsequent shows were worthless, though. Some were actually still very good! Flashman, Liveman, Jetman, etc. Rise in special effects techniques and storytelling were a factor.
Even the later Super Sentai up to Dairanger were more conservative with how many giant robots it had, but starting with Kakuranger, it gradually became overkill with each successive series. It started to hurt my soul. Furthermore, starting with Megaranger (despite an awesome concept), we start having the uniform-wearing (and later pajama-wearing) teen bishi that set today's standard, where everyone has to be a fugitive from the set of Degrassi and wear multicolored pajamas. Past heroes, in their own pretty-boy standards, were far more intimidating by comparison!
With the older shows, less was more, but with the newer shows, more is less.
