Who else thinks the majority of Super Sentai is crap?!

Well as everything in this thread proves, SS fans are very stubborn. The SS support here truly outweighs Ultraman popularity. So this discussion is very lop-sided. That's why the thread is called "Who else thinks. . . SS is crap?!", not "Come here and defend SS." But I digress.

So... what is it you're looking for exactly? A discussion where both people who aren't fans of Sentai and people who are share their views and opinions or a thread where people who aren't fans all chime in with variations of "I totally agree, Sentai sucks!" for pages and pages? Because I think most of us thought you were looking for the latter, which is why we pitched in our two cents.

So essentially, you don't want discussion, you just want people to agree with you?

Japanfan4ever, if it makes you feel any better, this thread made me want to give Ultraman a third chance. C:

To me it feels more like Ultraman uses the same setup and framework to tell new stories while Sentai changes the framework each year in order to tell the same stories. But then, I'm fairly uneducated on Sentai so that's probably a gross generalization.

Kamen Rider DOES change things up more than the other two these days but the writing is always so terrible it kills the show anyway.

If what you guys are saying is true and SS fights to get attention that isn't shown, then I hope that continues because I feel that SS takes space in the toku community that is stale and growing quite old. SS has become a parody of itself! It truly has. But none of you will agree, so only those who aren't blindly dedicated to SS since childhood will be receptive to that :disappoin

I meant to say Ace, sorry about that. Mistake :shakefist

Actually you are not getting the point, the people who reacted to your posts are mostly toku fans who like both SS and Ultraman. The problem is with your reasoning why you think SS is more appreciated than Ultraman, your reasons contradict what Toku fans know about the series.

Man, saying all Sentai look the same is the exact kind of uninformed, skimming the surface, total lameass fucking bullshit as people saying all Ultra's look the same or all Showa Riders look the same.

Now as for the actual quality of the shows. Sentai has been going non-stop for a very longtime. It's totally unrealistic to ever expect to like every series that has come out. Or even most of them.

But I am willing to bet that ANYBODY who feels any enjoyment of tokusatsu at all can find at least 2 Sentai series to like. Doesn't even matter what era, but at least 2.

To say all Showa Riders lookalike would mean that you're fucking BLIND. Super-1 looks like V3? G.T.F.O.

Anyway. This thread is worthless "my Toku is better than yours" bullshit, and the OP doesn't even WANT discussion. So, I'm Ghost Like Swayze.

Meanwhile, Ultraman is punted down my priority list since yet another fan's whining has made me look at it with disdain.

Countdown to thread being closed...?

So... you dislike tokusatsu?

I'd say you're the one being stubborn, chief. And I'm not wagging a finger at you in saying this, but more pointing out that I actually provided a lot of examples to the contrary of what you said regarding all SS and KR having the same formula versus Ultraman.

You didn't reply, but mainly just posted.. we're wrong and that was it.

Could you give some examples of what you're speaking of?

I'm gonna agree that Ultraman seems more "samey" to me than Sentai but I do think Sentai would benefit from a break. The ratings have taken a hit in recent years - even Shinkenger's weren't that high, although they went up during the "kagemusha" arc. Toei just wants to pretend it was mega-successful so they can flog more merchandise and the V-Cinema release, and because it did at least do better than Go-onger
