Race:

Humans can be a race thus the Human Race.
But Chinese, French, Indian, etc are races as well since in English we have words than can be used 50 different ways. If those aren't races, then why would we call bashing one another "Racism"?
& As far as the evolution crap.. Let's not even go there, we have had a thread for it, & it wasn't good at all.
The person that first said the ape thing was a simple joke. >__> That person doesn't even believe in evolution, so why not just leave their joke there instead of carrying it on.
