It's the same thing in Kuuga, except they made new weapons to deal with Grongi. By the time they finished G3, Godai was already done with Grongi. When Agito started, the armor was no match for the Unknowns. So the cops used G3 to get data on them, as well as Agito & Gills. Which lead to G3-X.

The police did interfere with Dopant activity, but stop a Dopant? Never. Unless it was maybe a Masquerade like Terui stopped a few times. (Poor Masquerades. They are the laughingstock of the Dopant universe.)

Jinno knew Shotaro was able to get Kamen Rider to the scene as long as he had the correct information. The information gathered from the police was used to help Shotaro find the Dopant and the police arrested him or her after he or she was defeated. Guns weren't effective so they weren't used on Dopants to defeat them. Memory Breaks were the only solution.

Besides, Fuuto wasn't a city of crime until GaiaMemory distribution began on the large scale. The police weren't as focused on stopping Dopants themselves, but rather on helping Double keep them off the streets of Fuuto. They found their own niche when Double emerged to fight the Dopants.

I think here is exactly where the problem is, the police force cept for Terui, were never seen even trying to fight a dopant, I don't remember a shot from a normal hand gun was ever fired by a policemen at a Dopant, no authority even tried to fight a Dopant actually.

Well I admit that people's complaints sometimes come off more as "this isn't the show I wanted to see" rather than really "this is objectively bad." The police in W were clearly not meant to be a force against the Dopants. If we had seen the police trying to fire at a Dopant and then getting their asses kicked, it would have taken a lot of the attention and sympathy off of the characters the story is actually about. As much as some people like watching the police being cool, W's just not that kind of show, and I don't know why you came to it looking for that.

(And as for "they shouldn't have been there otherwise," you cannot have a detective show that doesn't acknowledge the police in some form. The police exist to make the private detective look good, whether through corruption, incompetence, or personal reverence. This is an ironclad law of detective media.)

Anyway, I apologize if I somehow inadvertently kicked off a "complain about W" kick in the nostalgia thread. Maybe we need a "things that disappointed you about W" thread to counter?

The police have never been properly equipped to fight in any series. They shouldn't have even had the police in the show in the first place. They are basically just janitors with handcuffs. Jinno and Fukky take the cake for most undeserving of their jobs and are a disgrace to any police officers.
