We Miss Double (W) Thread

The cops aren't useless, they're just ill-equipped to deal with Dopants. The only one who could was Accel. If they try to go after Dopants, it would be comitting suicide. All they could do was give Shotaro info.

It's the same thing in Kuuga, except they made new weapons to deal with Grongi. By the time they finished G3, Godai was already done with Grongi. When Agito started, the armor was no match for the Unknowns. So the cops used G3 to get data on them, as well as Agito & Gills. Which lead to G3-X.

Just in case someone didn't catch this?

We can't expect them to stop superhumans who aren't affected by bullets, now, can we?

They found the best way to help Double by giving Shotaro information, staying out the way, and arresting the culprit soon after he was defeated.

It's not that they were useless. They just couldn't do much in terms of fighting the Dopant.

You are trying to justify the police not doing their jobs just because Double is around. They would also have no clue whether or not Double would always show up exactly on time. What if he is injured and they don't know about it or if they are unable to transform due to a Dopant's power? If there was an attack on a bunch of civilians by a Dopant, they can't just 'leave it to Double', even if their weapons don't do anything, they should still race to scene to at least try and prevent any civilian death. They shouldn't have even bothered with introducing a police force.

imo.

I think here is exactly where the problem is, the police force cept for Terui, were never seen even trying to fight a dopant, I don't remember a shot from a normal hand gun was ever fired by a policemen at a Dopant, no authority even tried to fight a Dopant actually.

If you don't like it, just stick to your Kuuga and be done with it.
If you're gonna use that for your defense, you might as well not join the discussion.

Well I admit that people's complaints sometimes come off more as "this isn't the show I wanted to see" rather than really "this is objectively bad." The police in W were clearly not meant to be a force against the Dopants. If we had seen the police trying to fire at a Dopant and then getting their asses kicked, it would have taken a lot of the attention and sympathy off of the characters the story is actually about. As much as some people like watching the police being cool, W's just not that kind of show, and I don't know why you came to it looking for that.

(And as for "they shouldn't have been there otherwise," you cannot have a detective show that doesn't acknowledge the police in some form. The police exist to make the private detective look good, whether through corruption, incompetence, or personal reverence. This is an ironclad law of detective media.)

Anyway, I apologize if I somehow inadvertently kicked off a "complain about W" kick in the nostalgia thread. Maybe we need a "things that disappointed you about W" thread to counter?

I doubt you even know what you're saying at this point.

This.

No thanks. Besides I'm still on topic because I miss double for the things I don't like.

The police have never been properly equipped to fight in any series. They shouldn't have even had the police in the show in the first place. They are basically just janitors with handcuffs. Jinno and Fukky take the cake for most undeserving of their jobs and are a disgrace to any police officers.

That sounds like like what Tiger said. He will kill what he loves and you will bash Double to miss it. :redface2: That still doesn't make it on topic.

Fukky? How does it make sense to have a decent large city have no police when there are crimes? :eyebrow: There's always been a reason for Police officers in a show unless I'm forgetting something.

So it's been said a lot, but I really liked Mick. He's probably my favorite example of the archetype "mindless supersoldier who is just innocent and misunderstood at the end."

Because you know? That archetype makes a lot more sense when it's a cat.

Also, Frog Pod. BEST. POINTLESS UPGRADE GADGET. EVER.
