Episode 9 was a lot more enjoyable on my second viewing. The first time through I was admittedly a little let down after how bugnuts amazing episode 8 had been.

I think for Ultraman Max card would probably grant X the Max Galaxy to use.

I've seen Max but I wasn't really a fan of it, which limits how special episode 8 was for me. (bring back Mebius!)

Last summer Gaim tied into the FIFA World Cup. This year X ties into the Rugby World Cup, which as they mentioned is taking place here in England and just started a few days ago. I think it did a decent job of being a sports tie-in that didn't require you to enjoy/be familiar with the sport.

that's exactly how I felt as well. in fact, it's the only episode that I didn't quite enjoy so far.

I wonder if Techtor Gear is actually made in the Cyber Card for X to use. Then again, it'll probably restrain X's powers instead.
